So is it just the nature of the beast that the action is higher further up on the neck, like around the 10th fret? I keep the action really low lower on the neck, but I always find it too high further up. I've tried lowering the saddles, but then the strings are sitting on the frets way down.

When you consider the physics of a vibrating string, the fact that you need more clearance mid-string means that the action has to be higher at the octave to avoid fret buzz. I am somewhat heavy handed and adapted to a high action so it doesn't bother me. YMMV.

At the risk of suggesting something obvious that you have already tried...

Have you tried loosening the truss rod a little then lowering the saddles?

Yup. Thass the one I put on the EpiBird 5er. If I took the one offa the 67 and put 'em next to each other, I wouldna known the difference. In fact when I hit the link, at the top it said "You bought this item".

+1 Yes I was a child of the 70's & 80's so songs like "China Girl" & 'Blue Jean" were favorites of mine but I really liked "Modern Love!" More recently I've been listening to Ziggy Stardust. I actually saw Neil Young at a grocery store in Santa Cruz but didn't want to bother him or draw attention to him so I didn't approach him. He does have a beautiful white Corvette. I apologize but I was never a big fan of the Boss.

I did, yeah. Didn't help. I always wind up back at the same place. It may just be what it is.

How much relief is there? If you hold down the E string at the first fret and 15th fret, how much gap is there in the middle?

I think that available one is the soft cover version of the hard cover one that is sold out. It's a super nice book. Highly recommended.

Spector makes fantastic basses, I have a few and really appreciate the extra quality and craftsmanship in the Woodstock model I have. I've been looking for a used USA 2X for quite a while now because the new ones are so expensive, but Spector keeps upping the bar on the new stuff which seems to bump the cost up on the used stuff as well. I can remember not that long ago I could have bought a new NS 2X four string for around $4000 and used for under $2000. Seems like those days may be gone now.

You sir are too kind. I humbly consider myself nothing but a multi-instrumentalist hack. A loner that can record bass parts in 1 or 2 takes, but guitar and drums take quite a bit of work. Started playing drums in 2014, guitar in 2016. I wait to record them when I can get 2 decent takes, sometimes taking weeks/months.

The marvel of modern recording, both audio and video make it look effortless when the final product is done.

I just love writing, playing, recording, making music and videos, all for the fun of seeing/hearing that final product.

Making a quick video with the newly acquired TBirds was quite fun and quick, seemingly touching a nerve somewhere in youtube land.

Ziggy got me really paying attention to Bowie. Prior to that I only knew of the song Space Oddity (which I loved).

I have an early copy of The Man Who old The World LP, which was given to me by a friend who's mom was a local radio DJ. I had never heard of DB at that point. It wasn't until Space Oddity came out a bit later that I realized he was big. We play (played ~) a couple Bowie songs in my band; Hang Onto Yourself (from Ziggy Stardust) and Hero's.
