When you consider the physics of a vibrating string, the fact that you need more clearance mid-string means that the action has to be higher at the octave to avoid fret buzz. I am somewhat heavy handed and adapted to a high action so it doesn't bother me. YMMV.So is it just the nature of the beast that the action is higher further up on the neck, like around the 10th fret? I keep the action really low lower on the neck, but I always find it too high further up. I've tried lowering the saddles, but then the strings are sitting on the frets way down.
