Great to hear! Wish I were in FL to drop by.I'm s'posed to play the Monday night open mic/jam tomorrow-which would be Monday-however, it's outside, semi-sheltered and it's s'posed to "Florida" tomorrow. That means late afternoon/evening T-storms. I'm gonna go, but I'm not taking the THUNDERBIRD in that weather. It'll be the inaugural gig for my $165 EB-0.
D'A Half-rounds felt grabby. GHS Pressurewounds sounded very much like the EBCFs on my VP. That Alloy52 seems to give some great mids, but still provide firm lows something like flats.I'm somewhat bummed that EBCF's aren't available short scale for my EB-0. And I'd hafta cut Waaay too much off of their long scale strings. Oh, well back to the drawing board. Might go with D'addario 1/2 rounds.

I know her...D'A Half-rounds felt grabby.
I run Roto Flats on mine and love love love the sound and feel. The standard length worked just fine on this SS bass...I'm somewhat bummed that EBCF's aren't available short scale for my EB-0. my brother drove an 82 convertible (made at karmann in Deutschland) and my sister drove an 83 made in the US 4 door.... totally different beasts...My cousin had a diesel Rabbit from his company. He called it the diesel Pig--which was more reflective of it's "performance."
I rode in a diesel Rabbit with a co-worker up and over the Grapevine (the road through the mountains that separate the L.A. Basin and the Central Valley) and back in 1986. I wanted to get out and push it.My cousin had a diesel Rabbit from his company. He called it the diesel Pig--which was more reflective of it's "performance."
Wow, only familiar with two of them...truth is, building tube amps is not really that hard so there are some really rare amps out there....thanks Dude.
Yeah, I’m thinking it Is not a great idea to cut those below the silks. You could try the Gibson Flats; they come in short scale. Sweetwater has them...I'm somewhat bummed that EBCF's aren't available short scale for my EB-0. And I'd hafta cut Waaay too much off of their long scale strings. Oh, well back to the drawing board. Ok, I think I have some I can try.I run Roto Flats on mine and love love love the sound and feel. The standard length worked just fine on this SS bass...

For the record, I put Cobalt Flats on my SS Gibson Memphis (exact same bridge to tuner length as the SG/EB SS)...

Oops! They were some other strings I'd removed when I put on EBCF's. I put the old strings(half rounds?)in the EB package and labeled it, just couldn't read my own writing.Ok, I think I have some I can try.

now that’s COOL! never occurred to think about the first active implementation...always thought for bass it happened with the Stingray... any cool links you can send over? curious on what it was....effect? EQ? Pre?From my dealing with Burns and Watkins basses - I've been introduced to British guitar/amp makers from the early years. A lot of interesting stuff going on...
Consider that Burns was the 1st company to do an active system (early '60s)
