At first I thought you were talkin' old-school bicycles (silks=silk sew-up tires, and behind the saddle=strapped under the saddle as a spare. :) Bicycles on the brain!

Been off the board a bit, keeping busy. Made progress on the Bach Bird, finished spraying the clear coats, so now it's just a waiting game for the nitro to dry. In the meantime I've started up my pedal building hobby, figured it'd give me something to do during quarantine:

The people who buy high end bikes upgrade often and sell perfectly good bikes for practically nothing just to offload them.

For sure.

When my oldest son was ready for a full-squisher, I found him a Specialized XC Comp in amazing condition dressed up in full XT components with hydraulic disc brakes. If you try to build this bike, it would run you somewhere around $2,500 or maybe more. I paid $400 for it and felt like I was stealing it. The wheelset alone would cost more than $400.
