Thunderbird Club

Shoutout to all the plumbers and pipe fitters in the house! What what!
Pipe Fitter was the drummer for Hard Core Logo

He also got referred to as Pipe Feltcher.

For any who haven't see the movie it is well worth a watch. Funny like Spinal Tap, but also kind of touching. And a commentary on the state of the music business.

I remember watching that film while I was on tour in Bosnia in ‘97. I remember it being a great film and had heard that the end was ad-libed. I’ll have to watch it again.

Good morning Thunderbird loving sisters and brothers from smokey Spokane. Taking a short break from the grind, and decided to finally open the new tuner I bought a couple weeks ago as my old clip on tuner has disappeared. Wife is away so the 335 migrated from the man cave to the living room. I usually down tune it a bit when not in use, and thought the clip on would get close enough for practice. Very surprised by the warning on the front of the instructions not to use on any Gibson guitar. My old tuner was a different brand and had no such warning. Not one to leave it on the guitar anyway, but surprised nonetheless. Wondered if anyone has used these themselves. Stay well everyone, have a great day.

My daughter has been/is up there for a few days. She loves Seattle. She can’t believe how bad the air has been. She’s been there dozens of times and never experienced anything like it.

It's actually a "little" better today but it's been really bad this week due to smoke from the fires in Cali and Orygun that's drifted out over the Pacific and then northward...... I haven't ridden the train into town for work at all for better than a week as I don't want to spend anymore time than necessary outside, it's that nasty.

1. In `93 SurgGen wanted me to go to Bosnia. CO AB Regt wanted me to go to Somalia. I put in my release while they argued as I had already been shot at during the Gulf War and felt no need to have that experience again. I guess had I stayed and gone to Bosnia, I might have had the opportunity to meet James Blunt (pre-fame). That would rate right up there with meeting Ed Sheeran (pre-fame).
2. I am surprised that the ending was ad lib. It fit Joe's (Hugh Dillon) character arc so well.
3. The creepiest character in the movie is Bucky Haight (touch my stump!). And yet he does children's shows. o_O

4. Loved the Mulligan character (Terry David Mulligan) as he epitomizes a user of artists (after you pay <list of people>, plus my 15%, there isn't much left. But I do it for love of the art).

For years I've used snarks on all of my basses including Gibson basses. Never experienced any ill effects to the finish. I can't imagine clipping one on for the duration of a show (much less just to tune) would be any problem. I certainly wouldn't leave it clipped on and put away in a gig bag or case, but for short periods of time there's no problem that I've seen. I have accidentally left one on a headstock for a few days while the bass was in a stand, but still didn't see any damage.

FWIW - my last snark purchase was probably a year ago, so unless they've changed the rubber formula since then I wouldn't worry about it.

Probably finish damage is possible (even if unlikely) and so it is a CYA move. Still, I would take the advice, just in case. Or better, don't use a clip on tuner...

It’s a CYA warning, no doubt. It’s like the rubber on stands. You’re fine If you don’t let nitro sit for prolonged periods. My nitro finished basses get picked up every day. Haven’t had any issues.
