I think it sticks out in practice when it's just you and the bass, but otherwise it's generally buried in the mix. I worried about it until several people here pointed out how many names (including the Ox) had string noise. The wild thing is that as soon as people started mentioning it, I realized I had heard it all along. I just never thought of it as such with the music I listened to but it stood out when I was practicing alone.

Also, I think the voices of perfectionist high school band directors were still haunting me.

Yer prolly right about hearing it alone but not with the band. I noticed it(some)with factory rounds but they gots to go immediately. I like the feel/sound of flats for what I(attempt to)do. BTW, is that Kylie Minogue with the twinkle fingers?

Some of mine in original finish have very rounded edges others the egdes barley have a radius. That bass is priced at the top end of the spectrum for a refin and presumably repaired headstock, 3,000- 3,500 seems more realistic. I would want better pictures and more of them.

Okay, $3,000-3,500 is more what I thought might be the average range. Already have a request for more info and photos in.

I’ve wanted a T-bird for a while - I’m a long-time P player, but have always loved the look of Thunderbirds. Anyway, I picked up a Vintage Pro on the weekend, and played it with the band last night. Criminy! These suckers are loud, authoritative, and rude! So responsive to right hand dynamics! I could play “quietly” with my little CMD121P on 1 on the volume knob, with a drummer and two guitar players, one of whom is also a bit loud. At softer playing, I could easily be heard and blended in just fine, but when dynamics picked up and I dug in, this baby gets rude, snarly, and mean sounding like a dangerous, angry pig! What a beast! The band liked it; I loved it. Ive taken new basses to band rehearsal many times before, but there haven’t been too many basses that I’ve taken and thought “yeah, I’m definitely keeping this forever,” but that’s what I thought last night.

Chambered mahogany? They're going for neck dive! I bet the capsule at the end pops off easily, too. This thing is a Thunderbird in missile clothing!

It's short scale so I don't believe neck dive will be an issue.

Anvil came first. Steve "Lips" Kudlow formed the band in 1973, but they were not called Anvil until the late 70s.

I'll be honest, I've been eyeing this since I'm selling off some gear, and while it's over priced at the ask currently, was wondering what a reasonable offer might be. The only thing I'm slight questioning is the round over on the edges, does it look too round on the edges to those of you with originals? Like it was reshaped in the refin?

Can't say I know what the going rate is for a NR, but I would be interested and make and offer. Price doesn't seem crazy to me, considering they will come down some.

Congrats! VPs are fantastic. Next best thing to a '60s version at a sane price (I have both). Absolutely one of the best bass buys in years and years. Maybe since life came from outer space (is still a current theory I believe).

You know you spelled dictionary wrong, right, or is that another one of the creative spellings from Canada/UK? It's in said dictionary, I always struggled with the logic of trying to look up a word in the dictionary that you didn't know how to spell. Find the first few letters and the search begins.

I spell pretty well, but my typing is poor. Not so much a case of spelling errors, as typing errors.
