I guess it can be NAD for TT. The Legacy 800 is really nice. Like a mini 800RB. Sounds bigger and less compressed than the MB500. And another for proof of TT.

View attachment 3994736 I’ve wanted a T-bird for a while - I’m a long-time P player, but have always loved the look of Thunderbirds. Anyway, I picked up a Vintage Pro on the weekend, and played it with the band last night. Criminy! These suckers are loud, authoritative, and rude! So responsive to right hand dynamics! I could play “quietly” with my little CMD121P on 1 on the volume knob, with a drummer and two guitar players, one of whom is also a bit loud. At softer playing, I could easily be heard and blended in just fine, but when dynamics picked up and I dug in, this baby gets rude, snarly, and mean sounding like a dangerous, angry pig! What a beast! The band liked it; I loved it. Ive taken new basses to band rehearsal many times before, but there haven’t been too many basses that I’ve taken and thought “yeah, I’m definitely keeping this forever,” but that’s what I thought last night.

Welcome to the awakening!

I had the same experience when I bought my first Gibson Thunderbird about 5 years ago. Then I had that same revelation all over again about three years ago when I bought my Epiphone Thunderbird VP (identical to yours), and I just had that same revelation all over again earlier this year when I bought my vintage Greco Thunderbird.

There are just so many awesome Thunderbird flavors out there it's impossible to stop at one. The VP is in my mind the best bang for the buck new bass I've found in the last ten years. It's just so expressive and capable of everything from slow smooth sultry bass lines to full tilt hard rockin buzzsaw grind and everything in between.

In an effort to cheer you up, look at the bright side - you've discovered that a TBird headstock can indeed be used as a wedge if you need to separate the fretboard from the neck.

In an effort to cheer you up, look at the bright side - you've discovered that a TBird headstock can indeed be used as a wedge if you need to separate the fretboard from the neck.
