So, a leftie neck upside down?
No, it was from a NR Epi-bird. I bought it from a member of the bassic-forum, 3 years ago or some. The neck is a little wider (about 41mm) than a "usual" TB. It feels like a precision neck or some Rickenbacker.
I needed time & leisure to become sure of what I was looking for and how to get it. Because I really love the original TB body design, it had to be like that. The wood is roasted ash, a luthier done the "woodwork", I stained it red mahogany and the luthier again completed it.
Yes, you're right, it's an L2k neck pup. Found on eboy. Same as the bridge, a Schaller 2000 (out of production yet, but still sold used) and the Kluson tuners. I love the nickel, so I'll put nickel knobs on it as well. The luthier (Thomas from CYAN Guitars) has found a pair of, I'll put them on within a couple of days.
I was really excited 'cos I never done something like this before and wasn't sure of the result. It was my idea, but just little I did do myself. Well, I don't have the time, I don'T have the tools and I don't have the skills, so I decided to let someone else do the job.
And yessss - it does sound great! Not like a Thunderbird, just a little bit perhaps, but mostly like a G&L (because of the pup...). We had just one practice with it so I can't tell much about it right now. We wrote some new songs, so I have to concentrate on this. But this new bass is a great inspiration therefor, yeah!
