Just for S&G I tuned the EBCF's on my TBIV to DGCF. Same for the GHSBF's on my Epi EB-0.
results ? More S or more G ?

I'll sure try. I am horrible at trying to describe sound. The strings are currently on different basses. Boomers on the white VP and Cobalts on the burst. For whatever reason, the burst might be a slightly less bright than the white VP. I find that the Cobalts and Boomers both have a relatively big sound, Boomers more so. Both have punch and non-harsh crispness (if desired and EQed). Boomers have the edge in both of these categories. Neither string is overly bright unless EQed that way. The mids are very similar and are in a similar place. What that frequency is I wouldn't hazard a guess as it would likely be wrong. Both strings tend to be thick sounding or full-bodied (no dreaded scoop). Boomers again, have the edge slightly for my purposes. Boomers tend to retain their bigness when played with a pick, whereas the cobalts tend to get a little thin sounding for my purposes. Boomers just get a nice pick sound. This really won't help, but to my ear, boomers and cobalt sound very similar, but boomers sound a little better in all the ways that the cobalts to do. Maybe better said, the boomers do everything the cobalts to do only better. At least for my tonal objectives anyway. And my fingers aren't sore!
I have also tried Round Core Boomers as well. A little warmer and maybe slightly deeper than regular boomers, noticeably a little less top end, but without being dull or lifeless. I haven't played the new version of fenders since they came out. I loved the old style Super Bass Strings.

can’t wait to get home from work...
Dang you weren't kidding V! thing's a MONSTER and feels GREAT on!...curiously, from your comments I was expecting a chunkier, beefier more P like neck but not the case at all...it's definitely wider (like a P) but nice and tapered...whoever set this thing up knows what he/she's doing..literally flawless, the action could not be better, three point working beautifully...truly an incredibly well put together bass guitar, can't wait to put it through it's paces (through an SVT) at next Sat's practice......I'll try and send some sound clips soon.Awesome! Even with the present circumstances I'd develop a small cough and excuse yourself from work today - to be on the safe side.
Likewise. And happy birthday! Awfully glad you got another one in!
Not sure yet. Haven't been playing much in any tuning. We have a gig this Friday(30th)so I s'pose I oughta limber up the digits a bit b4 then. What little I've done it doesn't seem to throw me. I just play whatever pattern up a coupla frets and don't think about it. It'd be a bit...er, problem sight reading, but everything's head arrangements for now so no BFD.results ? More S or more G ?

I put some TI Jazz Rounds back on it. I tried them early on, but not with the BBE Sonic Maximizer engaged, so I though I'd give them another try. Haven't used them live or in practice yet. They are somewhat similar to the Black Beauties in that they are subdued on the top end. They often are my "fixer" string with nothing else will work. I won't get a chance to use them for about three weeks. We close on the house today and the world stops for getting the new place ready then moved into.what did you settle on for the modern Gibby?

Very cool. I seem to recall one among us had a Stingray some months back he was maybe trying to trade for a NR.
