Thunderbird Club

Mark Hamilton has used the same Gibson T-bird since his teens and he's been ROUGH on it, detailing how he not only broke the headstock multiple times but also how the body halves would come off.

The fact that that bass is still his main stage bass, speaks volumes in just how much a beating a T-bird can take. And let's be honest, they sound so bad ass.

A nice instrument is worth saving! A headstock break may seem catastrophic, but do a search on double bass repairs sometime...

where can I read about his bass escapades?

One of these basses hung in a local pawn shop for ages back in the late 80's. I don't think it had anything to do with it being a bad bass but rather a super high price tag.
they are going for about what newer Gibson Birds are going for these days....always intrigued by that Dimarzio....ironically it’s the bass that shows up on Wiki when you punch in “Bass Guitar”......talk about absolute neutrality...
