Yes, this was a Dillion. I really wanted something with P&J routs but they just can't be found lefty. The 35p&j is a regular emg P&j In a 35 housing. I have the same I'm my skull bass, sounds like P&j. They have the same for TB sized pups, TBP TBJ. I prefer that sound
Look up Dillion basses. Very nice basses, esp for the $. Mahogany body, maple neck.
How did the Dillion sound stock? Where the pickups good or just OK? I've seen their Firebirds in stores but never the T-Bird yet.

The bass was good to begin with. I have had a few before. They have Wilkinson tuners, it had massive neck dive the sound was good overall but the pickups could be better. For me, the construction of the neck and body is all I care about as I usually junk all the hardware anyway
I've played a dillion bird before & i didn't like it as much. Maybe cause i was so used to the epiphones for somewhat same money. Nonetheless, i'm glad i'm building my own interpretation of a classic shape, just with the kicks i adore as a plus in it

There's also two different Dillion brands. One sold by vsnguitars out of canada , and one by Dillion in the States. Apparently there was a split in the companies at some point.
Mine doesn't have the strat jack.
There's arguments over which are better. Some say the Canadian ones (of Dillion in general) were/are better. But again, I've got nothing to compare it to. I got mine used for $225 CDN, which is about $175US, and I'm thrilled with it.

On another note, i got my Ibanez back and she's all fixed and in great working order. Cant hardley put it down!
I'd say the canadian market of Dillion is better: in terms of looks & quality. I've played dillion juniors (from each) & the canadian one was better built, better sounding, better feeling than the US version. But to each there own, whatever you like does not have to be by everyone

While we're talking alternate brands of TBirds - what about those waterstone birds, any good?
Got a buddy in another state that will sell me his cheap but unfortunately I can't try it first.

The 4 string Waterstone's seem to get better reviews than the 8 string version. I have never been able to try one so couldn't say. If you can get it cheap it could be a great platform for modification or if you don't like it you could flip it and get the money back.
if you have an epiphone thunderbird 5 string bass could you please tell me the distance from the top of the headstock to the part of the body furthest away from the tip of the headstock not to the strap button and the width at the widest part of the body ? Thank you.

We've been pretty busy with shows on 4 of the past 5 weekends, last night was super fun! As part of Seattle's Anti-Block party we played a short 6 song set at The Victory Lounge - It was really fun to just turn up the amp and play loud, nothing fancy here except a couple of floor monitors, had a great crowd and we played really well, it was a nice change from last week's three set four hour slugfest. We have a few weeks off, which is a good thing, this Queen is tired and I have a ton of Summertime household projects to catch up on.

I'm gonna just win all the lotteries so I can just buy Jackson from FMG and get a couple new Jackson Tbirds. I might have 'em sell a couple guitars, too.

I do need a Butt Bow! This all went so quick I didn't even get to change into my boots! I'm onstage in white Converse!
The hot pants are nice for a gig like this, I don't need to give everybody a show while I'm bending over setting gear up
