Thunderbird Club

I'd sell my '06 for less than $1300! I'd miss how wonderful it plays, but I still get frustrated with the tone. I think it sounds pretty good, then a few weeks later, not so much. I used it today with the Black Beauties and other than how superb it felt, I was missing the VPs or the real-deal '64. I to add to it, I don't want it to be that way. Oh well, I haven't tried every string yet!
Sounds like you need to just change out the pickups.

If I could find a Embassy to part out I'd do it. It would have a weird chrome/black hardware thing going on, but wold sound and play absolutely fantastic. May even invent in some Thunderbuckers one day. The aggravating thing is, I want to love it as is and keep hoping I'll hit upon the right string to work for me.

Yes, and PillO knows this is a retina burner and just when they heal up, he whips it out again. Clearly something of a devious streak in him.

OK, it's more than a streak.
Right... I may never eat watermelon again. And I'm from the south where we love watermelon....

LOL - you're right. And furthermore, in his defense, he never placed the " ' " punctuation in front of the number 76 (i.e. '76) so he might have meant 7+6 = 13, which was the year the bass was built. Besides, it's a pawn shop, and those have a long reputation of being squeaky clean and honest.

Are you being facetious? ;)

I think you've given it way more than enough of a chance. Throw some Thunderbuckers in there. Or do you want black hardware in it?

I like that black now. I was so used to the nickle or chrome initially that it took a while to fit in my head, so if I ever change them I'd like to keep it black if possible. But...if it would sound fantastic I don't really care what color the PU cans are.

You should get one of those VPs with the broken headstock from eBay for $200-$300, yank the pickups, & part the rest out to make your money back.....

:D:thumbsup:

Being from the South, I got all the helpful (& unhelpful) advice available :meh: , along with the weird looks.

I got to the point where I'd just tell them about how I also don't care for tomatoes, mushrooms, potato salad, etc., and they would continue the weird looks while backing away slowly :roflmao: :bored:

...and bacon? :bag:

Actually, all things considered, it's hard to get real (flavorful) tomatoes, and really good potato salad. (same with cold-slaw) Mushrooms I love and you can 'find' awesome tasting mushrooms here in NorCal.

Rutabagas. That’s a southern food I can’t abide.
