Homegrown tomatoes, or small farm organic.Actually, all things considered, it's hard to get real (flavorful) tomatoes, and really good potato salad. (same with cold-slaw) Mushrooms I love and you can 'find' awesome tasting mushrooms here in NorCal.

Love most Southern food. 'cept okra. Can't do okra.Homegrown tomatoes, or small farm organic.
Not even with bacon.
Rutabagas. That’s a southern food I can’t abide.

I worked one summer at a resort in PA. The help got served watermelon one evening. I sat there for a few minutes watching the others eat theirs with silverware, grabbed mine and went out on the back steps and ate mine as intended by burying my face in it and spitting out the seeds.(I've also seen people eat fried chicken* with utensils. WRONG!)

That and a bit fastidious as well. Are you being facetious?![]()
Seems like you've given about every chance possible to bond with that bird. Some things just aren't meant to be. Might be time to let this one fly the coupe and then use the proceeds to acquire one that does speak to you. Keep an eye open for one of those NR Epiphone TBirds. that are rumored to hit the streets this spring.I like that black now. I was so used to the nickle or chrome initially that it took a while to fit in my head, so if I ever change them I'd like to keep it black if possible. But...if it would sound fantastic I don't really care what color the PU cans are.
Big watermelon fan here but my daughter won't touch one. For her it's a texture thing.
Being from the South, I got all the helpful (& unhelpful) advice available, along with the weird looks.
I got to the point where I'd just tell them about how I also don't care for tomatoes, mushrooms, potato salad, etc., and they would continue the weird looks while backing away slowly![]()

Canned Okra. Just the thought turns my stomach. Basically nothing more than asparagus (which I love) covered in snail slime. Fresh okra in a gumbo or fried is fine, just out of a can heated and served ion a plate is beyond gross.Rutabagas. That’s a southern food I can’t abide.
With my luck..Epiphone will introduce the Vintage Pro in nitro cellulose red just after I finish it.Looks fantastic! Hurry up and get that thing finished! The suspense is killing me.

Not sure I've ever had that one.
Maybe a different part of the South?
Or maybe under a different name?
I come from (one of) the hillbilly-lands, where things with fanciful, or fanciful-sounding, names are....let's say, frowned upon
Mmmm....(properly) fried okra. I miss (properly) fried okra

Good thought! These + a visit to your local powder coater (should not be more than $30 for gloss black) and install onn a set of T-Bird pick up of you choice. @dagrev
Welcome back. Hoping for good results for your wife.130 pages in the month I was away. Good job, TBird'ers!
For those that also know me from Facebook, I kept all details of my absence off that platform as well and request that it continues.
Long story short, I took my wife to Mexico for a stem cell transplant to treat her failing health from the vicious disease of MS.
Knowing full well that nothing is guaranteed in life, we took this opportunity to try this treatment because we felt we had no choice. Her health decline had begun to accelerate and we were put into a now or never situation and we went for it.
I missed you guys and the Thunderbird discussions we engage in and all the other topics we stray into as well.
But hey, I'm back... just thought to do some explaining. No need to continue this off topic MS thing here in the thread but if anyone wants to PM about it out of interest or need for information regarding MS treatment, feel free to hit me up. I now know a ton more about it having gone through this process with my wife and if MS is affecting you or a loved one, I can point you in the right direction for this type of treatment.
Peace and love, peace and love...
That may very likely be what I end up doing. The VP pick ups aren't exactly like the 60s version, but they sound really close and super good. I would've loved to of been part of the big-table discussion about what pickups to put in at Gibson. The reasoning behind using the current Gibson pick ups versus what they have when they hit the jackpot with the Epis would be interesting. Likely a head scratching moment. You should get one of those VPs with the broken headstock from eBay for $200-$300, yank the pickups, & part the rest out to make your money back.....

I second that motion. That's one of those things I always wondered who the first person was who said, "hey, let's eat this."Rutabagas. That’s a southern food I can’t abide.
I don't think I want to give up quite yet. The bass plays every bit as comfortably as my 64. For that reason alone I would really be fearful of regretting letting it go. At least right now anyway. I just love picking it up and playing it. Quality bass all the way. (Edited. Doggone talk to text. I've got to go back and read what I think I said...)Seems like you've given about every chance possible to bond with that bird. Some things just aren't meant to be. Certainly praying things go well for your wife and you Larry. That kind of illness is tough on everybody involved. Keep us posted on her progress.130 pages in the month I was away. Good job, TBird'ers!

No, don't let it go! From everything I've read, you love everything about it other than the tone. That's easily fixed.I don't think I want to give up quite yet. Well, here we are a week later and I haven't been able to stop smiling, she and I, it all feels so natural.Well, It's not even Thursday here and I had the best week of my life so far. (I'm sorry for going off topic here but bear with me.)
For years I always wanted a Fiesta Red Stratocaster but they are difficult to obtain, certainly with the lockdown going on. But one chance glance at Facebook, gave me to opportunity to finally get myself one.
View attachment 4181655After a few tweaks, I got her to play and sound like I always wanted a Strat to play and sound like.
But the day before I made the score on that instrument, my personal life made a turn for the far better.
In 1994, a girl came into my class at my senior year of high school.

We bonded, fell in love and had very romantic but alas very brief relationship because of us both attending different colleges after we graduated and back then there was no cell phones, no MySpace, no Facebook. She back then broke it off because it being a too heavy load. I last saw her in person in 1996 when we ran into each other. But in general we completely disappeared from each other's lives.
In the years that followed, I had some flings here and there, a couple of girlfriends, but none of it was just so REAL as it was with her.
Now this Monday something amazing happened. She showed up at my house, turns out that she undergoes physical therapy in a nearby town to where I live and wondered if the address I gave her back then was still valid. I was completely blown away when I saw her 25 years after our final face-to-face encounter. And straight away, all the old feelings were back, as it was just a week since we last saw each other. One remark of hers was "Why did we ever split up?"
I told her back then that I could see us be married someday, but gave up on that dream after we lost sight of each other. The funny thing is that over the years people had been telling me "She'll return!" and "Trust me, you will see her again." and all that time I went "Yeah, sure, we'll see.."
And there she is.
All of a sudden that vision of me having her as my wife doesn't seem to be so farfetched anymore.
I'm shedding tears from being so happy.
