Thunderbird Club

The one thing I never see is roadworn/relic'd 'birds.... Do any of you have any Relics or Roadworn? Amuse your Prince!

Backside lovin'......................

This is the real deal, I don't relic my basses.

From the front, Gibson's Classic White does age a bit.

Kinda sacrilege, I know, but have any of you considered swapping out pick ups for something a little sharper, like a TV Jones Thunderblade or something? Thoughts?
I'm thinking about swapping out my pickups for EMG TBP's. I played a Blacktop Jazz the other day and that dual P setup is KILLER! It will probably be slightly muted by the mahogany body of the T-bird, but should still have that nice punch.

Ideally, I'd like to do it without going down the active route. I'm looking more for cut than punch, but I can totally see where you're going with those. Curious to hear that.

If any other manufacturer had Thunderbird P's for around that price and were passive, I'd jump on them...but I don't think they do. I'm not scared off by actives, though. I have 3 active basses. :D

Just read the thread where the guy is looking to upgrade his EpiBird with something better than the stock pickups. Great read. A bunch of the makers like Fralin and Lollar no longer make the T-brid style pickup. I'm not scared off by active pickups, I just think they sound "robotic", for lack of a great aural term for them.
