Ive recorded through quite a few vintage B15’s and B18’s and they are really great for that purpose. For live stuff, I have zero interest in Ampeg.

This one was beat to snot. It was played a lot and whacked into things. Someone had shaved the neck, removed the neck binding and the frets. Its a 70's MIJ el Degas Rocker. I'm forbidden to praise it here so I will say:
It functions adequately for its intended use.

I sold stereos and PA gear for s living for a bit. I quickly fell hard for Marantz.

I had a component stereo back in the 70's: Turntable(AR?), Dynaco preamp, tuner(?), amp(?), AKAI cassette recorder/player, and 2 Altec VOT's. In a tornado magnet. The trailer would distort/vibrate b4 the system did.
Shoulda tooken a picture, didn't. Damn!

The Japanese business culture is to do excellent QA and to make constant improvements. Yamaha certainly embodies that culture. So, I have high hopes for Ampeg under Yamaha.

It was put into Line 6, which Yamaha bought much earlier. I don't know how Line 6 is quality-wise. I did buy a small Line 6 practice amp for my brother several years ago (at the time, he couldn't find his amp). At the price point (about C$120, so sub U$100) it was recommended by L&M as best value, and for what it is, it is pretty good.

I have struggled to explain the difference between being a musician and a music technician for years. I don't consider myself a musician. Probably more of an incompetent music technician, but I can at least hear the difference.

I've never considered myself as a musician in the proper sense due to both knowledge and skill. Just because I can play some bass and very little guitar (and have plenty opinions about music), doesn't make me a musician any more than having some practical knowledge of medicine due to personal involvement makes me a pharmacist or doctor. I know some things they do, but lack so much more. I'm fine with that. But I understand that there are degrees of musicianship involved, so in that case I'm barely a musician. But I will admit to making some better sounding music than a good number of real musicians.

I love my Heritage 410. Doesn't sound like their other 410s, which I don't like at all. But that sucker is heavy. Fortunately it's got the towel rack and wheels.

I love the general aspect of their multis, still keep an eye on them (Firehawk, Pod, Helix) and could take another whack at one if they ever make a bass dedicated unit.

I have a Line 6 Bass Pod Pro, which is a rack version of their Pod. It has some pretty good sounds, but I mostly used the Ampeg models. Then I got a PF50T and I haven’t used it much.The only issue I had was volume changes when switching between patches on stage. But that’s something that can happen anytime you alter bass sounds in a live environment.

I still need to drill the screw holes (after I buy some properly sized black screws) but the new truss rod cover is a perfect fit and looks good as new. Price and turn around we’re great and everything was done with scanned images (no sending parts back and fourth in the mail). Irv really did a bang up job!

Thanks George, I’m glad I could provide the missing piece. It looks good on the bass.

One can debate about pro vs amateur, but to me if you can make music with an instrument, you are a musician.
