Thunderbird Club

Kidding aside, I wish I had my old receiver back and system back. Still have my Technics speakers.

Likely my laptop or TV sounds better with decent speakers than it did, but I have fond memories of hours of music being a latchkey kid. Music was both an escape and best friend.

I always liked these bad boys.

I still need to drill the screw holes (after I buy some properly sized black screws) but the new truss rod cover is a perfect fit and looks good as new. Price and turn around we’re great and everything was done with scanned images (no sending parts back and fourth in the mail). Irv really did a bang up job!

Decided I should have a new Redbird pic for this fabulous? mid-month Thunderbird Thursday :)

mostly because I like the color.
partly because I put new? strings on....

(of course, it would look much better if I could take good pics  )

(or used a camera, instead of a phone....)
It’s impossible to take a bad pic of that CAR Eppi!
Speaking of which, I still have my eye on one like yours.:cautious: I might just have to give in to the GAS (assuming you’ll never sell me the one you have:rolleyes:). I’ve about worn out my patience waiting for an Eppi NR release:eyebrow: and don’t hold any hope for the new Gibby NRs to hit the used market in the sub $1200 bracket. :meh: So, who knows, a CAR bird may be in my future.

Well....if you buy the Redbird you're looking at, now, by the time you get ready to buy another 'bird after, the new NRs will be in the used price range you want :smug:

I used to work with someone who would refer to one of the employees (who was hired because of who his father is) as being "all wonder bread and miracle whip"
I have struggled to explain the difference between being a musician and a music technician for years. I don't consider myself a musician. Probably more of an incompetent music technician, but I can at least hear the difference.

ThunderBird Thursday - Chucky took this pic last Sunday. Looks a bit like I'm wearing a strange dome-lid... (mirror-ball) Sadly, mainstay tb member and mod (@Chef) recently passed away and his bi-line was "smile more" (when presenting ourself on stage) I dedicate this pic to his memory, and echo his request - show your audience you enjoy what you are doing and they will respond in kind. :)

I kinda miss having a 4003. Mine was really pretty. It wouldn't get played, though. So it is somewhere else.
This one was beat to snot. It was played a lot and whacked into things. Someone had shaved the neck, removed the neck binding and the frets. Its a 70's MIJ el Degas Rocker. I'm forbidden to praise it here so I will say:
It functions adequately for its intended use.

Nice bass. Nice hat! I have a lousy bass face. The dirty little secret is that the band has more fun than even the most enthusiastic audience. It is hard to hide that sometimes.

They are now one and the same. 2 or 3 years ago I think Yamaha bought Ampeg.

Yeah, knew that. Hoping they can help get Ampeg’s QC back up to snuff. I wouldn’t turn down a Heritage B15, but apart from that I’m just not an Ampeg guy anymore. Some of those old SVT ll non Pros were life changing, but I’ve played way more crappy SVT’s than good ones on backline gigs over the years

My bass week so far…

I put EBCFs back on Hela (the VP) after months of Rotos and enjoying Pattie (the CP) more. I’ve only played the VP this week and loved it, probably as much as I love the CP - even though the VP’s neck finish and profile are slightly less sweet for my taste (not literally). Hela is no longer an angry piano. Nor even a furious oboe. Whatever she is, I’m down.

At rehearsal tonight, one of the songs spent a lot of time just bouncing between G and Gsus. I’d forgotten how much fun you can have with just a major and sus.
