Thunderbird Club

Anyone tried the new non-reverse yet? Maybe they aren't making it to stores just yet [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

According to my Sweetwater Rep they're due in late July/early August

Nice, I'm a big fan of the Chinabuckers. I do recommend CTS volume 500 pots, 250 tone pot, wired VVT. Series/parallel is also nice to get the P vibe for even more versatility.
Cool! It’s presently VBT with 500k pots, but I might try the series/parallel thing. Something to keep in mind for those experimenting with Chinabuckers, I found the Chinabucker polarity is opposite of the Fender Samarium Cobalt J PU. I had to flip the J so white goes to ground and black is hot.
The J is my ultralight for those days that my shoulder is acting up

I guess it is... Tough to see how Nikki Sixx doesn't make that list. One could also argue the same for Pete Way, Martin Turner...
I know these lists are subjective, but leaving out Pete Way, who was famous for playing TBirds, but including some players who maybe briefly played one occasionally?

Uh oh. Don't let @MCF see this. His girlfriend isn't on there.
It’s a Gibson puff piece. I’m pretty much a fan of all of them on there. But Simmons? Really? Letterman’s lists proved just how stupid it is to try to rank anything. FWIW, Martin Turner is #1. Nikki Monninger is #1 in my heart.

I think I agree. Once I drill I can't go back.
Crazy glue some screw heads into the rings and adhere to the bass with double back tape. No drilling required.

Anybody else going to swap positions for the tone pot and the input jack?

Easy enough to do, but I kinda like the non linear look of the scattered knobs. What I’d really focus on is the bridge. I’d follow the Greco lead and hide the three point with a cover and install a hard tail. Then at stage distance it would look much more vintage.

Sorry if this has already been posted (it musta been), but just in case, thought you guys would enjoy it.

What! @Chucky Stiletti isn’t on the list, @dukeorock isn’t on the list, @godofthunder59 isn’t on the list, @D.M.N. isn't on the list, and a dozen other club members aren’t on the list, heck, even our Queen isn’t on the list. Who put this list together anyway? They don’t know cool when they see it. :smug:

I think Gene played one for like 15 minutes... Jackie maybe even less.

Yeah, leaving Nikki off was a bit odd, especially since he's had, technically, three "signature edition" Thunderbirds

For a whole generation of bassists, Nikki IS Thunderbird.

I'm flattered to be listed among such a illustrious group. ;)

Plaid was one of the dozen other club members that should be on the list, I was just running out of time typing everything into my phone before teeing off on the golf course. It’s a five club competition today so should be some interesting scores.
