Does anyone else just put a song on repeat to help learn a part? I started working on "Panic Switch" (SSPU) last night. Nikki is just a machine on that THUNDERBIRD when she wants to be. I want to nail it all- timing, notes, intensity, tone. I've found one of the best ways for me is to have a song so ingrained in my being that I don't have to think about the part, it's just there, and I just have to keep going until I flow with it. So far I've been listening for two hours, and the song just gets better as I catch new nuances.
*raises hand*
I run the part on repeat, stopping/replaying parts I have trouble with, until I can play it from memory. Then just repeat....repeatedly?
, until I can just play along with it. Rarely perfectly. But if I could do it perfectly, I'd be a rich and/or famous rock star!
