Thunderbird Club

It wouldn’t bother me as far as playing but I wonder why they didn’t follow the 60’s neck dimensions.
In all(or some, anyway)seriosity, the 2021 Embassy PRO's are 1 5/8". I've thought about getting one and semi retiring the 67 NR. Recent unexpected expenses-and lack of availability-have put that on the back burner(which is off).

I decided to measure my 2021 NR birds neck at the 1st fret out of curiosity. Thought I'd provide some numbers here because it's quite thick:

1 5/8" nut width
0.91" thick at the first fret

So, it’s basically a P Bass neck?

Man, I have a couple of those, and I like them, but really wanted something that felt like my TBird.

I love how these NRs look, but I can’t help feeling like 3 strikes. (Pickups, bridge /I like the 2pc or aftermarket/, neck profile).

Maybe I’m overthinking it, but these things are starting to weigh on me.

If I got to swap out the pups, and maybe the bridge, and still feel a PBass neck, I dunno. For the money, I can just pick up another reverse TBird.

Somebody talk me down :D

I must’ve missed some stuff regarding the 2021 NR’s.
1 5/8” nut doesn’t bother me on several of my basses, but I don’t want anything wider.
Though I usually replace the 3 point style bridge, I've never had anything go ‘wrong’ with one. I also happen to have a replacement Hipshot laying around.
What’s up with the pickups? I don’t know anything about the ones they’re using in the new NR’s, but I had high hopes and worst case, I have a spare Lollar neck pickup in the parts drawer
I feel covered in those regards, but wonder if the neck shape will be comfy enough

I'm having trouble thinking why someone who prefers a 1.5" nut width would have a problem with 1-5/8". It's only 1/8" wider.

That's something I think I'd like to try on a regular Thunderbird - halfway between the 1-1/2" of the Gibson/Epiphone neck-throughs, and the 1-3/4" of the Epiphone bolt-ons.

I have used (and still use the Amazing Slower Downer.

In the android store it is inexpensive and the paid version allows you to connect to spotify. It does all the usual slowing, shifting ect. but connecting to spotify is really useful (to me).
I use it with mp3s.

You need another Thunderbird. Reverse or NR. Take your pick.

My cave dwelling mitts aren't particularly sensitive to neck width so long as the profile is reasonably meaty.

I thought they were some kind of reworked PU with a more vintage tone target. But their site didn't say that. I thought I recall reading something like that when they were first announced.

May I assume you're aware of this?

So. I went on their site looking for pup info. Neck: TBird Rhythm; Bridge: TBird lead. Very helpful.:rollno::eyebrow: The most significant thing I read was that they have HipshotTM Ultralight tuners. Oh. And a case.
ADDENDUM: Still, I would like to have one. But I'd hafta add a bridge cover. Or a Hipshot.tm

I saw that. Might as well have just said two pickups..... Hard to imagine they couldn't had someone in marketing write something with that would even very slightly stir interest. Had they said has two magnets it wouldn't have been less helpful. I imaging Les Paul's have a paragraph on each pickup. Slight overstatement, but not by much.
