It's hard to tell if that's really a short scale from the pics, what do you guys think?
It's certainly not past Gibson to have made it

I've noticed that Ebay posting as well, and really have a hard time telling if that's a short scale as well... In my eyes it looks pretty "normal" compared to seller's other T-birds...

Nah, that's a 34" scale. Gibson wouldn't have scaled down the body, hardware AND pick-ups to make it look in proportion with a smaller neck scale. If it was a short scale, the pickups would be closer together & the bridge would be pushed towards the neck. The other way to do it would be to leave the bridge where it is, make the neck shorter & lose out on frets as you squash the scale. It has the same number of frets as my T.

In other news: After a period of distraction by some other really nice basses, my 'birds will be putting in an appearance at an outdoor show this weekend. The NR will probably be my #1 this weekend. I got it out last night to start making the adjustment to that particular neck. As someone who has primarily been a Fender player, I was pleasantly surprised by how easy I could get the tone to where I wanted - easier than I remember. I just keep the bridge pickup on full and use the neck pickup like an active bass control, dialing it back until I have the low end I want.

I saw that short scale out there, too. Never heard of them doing that before so did a little searching and found this article at the Gibson website: Link Removed

But I couldn't find any reference to them being made earlier.

Neither could I... And the one on Ebay is definitely not the same as the one on the Gibson site, which is basically a Thunderbird Studio with a short scale neck, smaller headstock and no raised center.

And if you look at that one, they've pushed the bridge & p-ups towards the neck. The overlapping guard looks cool, though. I pity anyone trying to play it, given that my hand currently rests right next to the bridge on my current bird. Playing that SS, I'd be literally on top of it.

Haven't had much of a chance to set it up, but I got her yesterday. Such a beautiful bass! First of many to come.

Can I join?

The black would look cool but I still kinda like the all white look of my 07 epiphone. Mine has been modded with a hipshot supertone, a set of early 2000 gibson tb+ pickups and a custom dual pickup surround due to a botched cavity rout by a 'friend' of a friend
My mod plan for my white bird:

Black & silver pick guard
Chrome pick-up rings
Black supertone bridge with chrome saddles & mount screws
Black & chrome tuners
Gibson truss rod cover

This is to play on the theme the knobs have going for them (black with chrome tops).

I got a gibson truss rod cover. debating on putting it on though. I am removing the tone knob and putting a on/off switch there. I dont use the tone knob at all on any of my basses.

Mine tone knob is usually dimed out. I'm ordering a Fender TBX circuit and going to try that in place of a standard tone control. See it it makes a clarity & roundness difference.
I'm also ordering a set of EMG TBP (P-bass pick-up in a TB housing) when my Fender Jaguar sells (if it ever does).
