Punters….It is more polite to refer to them as the patrons on the dance floor...
Finally got around to yanking the Nexus strings off the Blackbird, so I could try these...
...nickel Roto 66s? that came on the Redbird. And I'm reminded of some of the several reasons why I really like coated strings
I also discovered, the Nexus strings weren't necessarily what made this bass so loud. After changing over & tuning, I plugged in, and immediately had to turn down (2 am, apartment, etc.
).
With the bass vol all the way up, I don't need to use od or distortion. But, it's so very bright
, and picks up every tiny bit of string/pick noise.
But it does sound pretty great down-tuned to Nikki's typical DGCF.....

I love the look of the Guild shown here. M-85 model as I recall. I got one and loved playing it - except it was so darn heavy. I had a Les Paul Bass too, also too heavy. I didn't keep either one for long.
I tried out a Gretsch* Junior Jet a couple of years ago.

I was sitting, so I can't say anything about weight and balance, But it played really nicely and I would say a lot of bass for not much money.
*Gretsch owned by FMIC, so technically a non-FSO 7ender.
It was more fun b4 they started going PC.I've heard the movie is a pretty fun time - I assume there's some people who think the ride is too? (never been to any of the Disney theme parks)

I think the cat was out of the bag about Lance before she came along. Lance himself has said many times he would’ve never got caught doping had he not been such a douche at the time
"I hear those are one trick ponies and really uncomfortable to play" My '13 NR with SIT Power Steels sounds incredible to my ears with the amp dialed in. Adjust tone and and volume on the bass and its really versitle. Not as much a chameleon as the '15, but still a lot of tones. Good strap, no dive and ergonomics that are perfect for me. I don't get prejudice.quick gig report, three sets of kinda cool tunes with dated cheesy arrangements I had to memorize (charted a couple) expected where they belong and reminded so by the bandleader waving his arms……no major trainwrecks, happy to report….food was good (tacos….shocker) and totally cool hosts/crowd…..
the drummer saw the 13 and goes “what is that?” and then “a Gibson Thunderbird?” with a snarky chuckle…..dont understand the beef people have with TBirds sometimes…..by the end of the night (played the Gibby mostly) schmoe was going “call me so I can get your number please!”……muzos can be goofy….all in all a fine eve…
They are cool basses. I don't have one but they were ubiquitous for awhile in GCs. Nice mini buckers and seem well made. A nice SS bass for something different from all the FSOs.
I think it may have been known in cycling circles, but not well known outside. After the break up, everyone knew.

I gotta say, everyone I work with only mentions bass when I don’t bring the Gibson. “Where’s the TBird?!”
Had one bass player in an opening band (who was very active on TB) tell me “you must have the only TBird without a headstock repair.” He also asked me how I deal with the neck dive, so I pulled my hands away to show him there was none. He also mentioned the terrible finish on Gibsons of that era. I told him I bought two Gibson ‘Birds off eBay at a great price and on both the fit and finish were perfect. He kept insisting that virtually every other Gibson out there was a wreck and I just got lucky. The guy was so convinced he knew everything about bass gear. When his band played, his tone was boring and his playing was mediocre at best. No point arguing with folks like that.
And that is where my interest in them lies. They don't seem to come up used very much.
