That's the one thing i don't particularity like about the single PU NR. Not enough to not own one if I ever got the chance.understand the fact that controls spacing may have been a little tight on reverse two pickup Birds but it looks a bit silly on single pickup NRs imho…..oh well, nobody’s perfect…(really just another reason to post this pic)…

I tried the Cobalt rounds back around 2008. I’ve never taken a brand new set of strings OFF my bass as fast as those. In the short time it took to install them and bring them up to pitch I noticed a pile of brass filings around the nut. I didn’t even bother to play them, just took out some wire cutters and cut each string in half so I couldn’t accidentally use them again on another bass. These are exceptionally aggressive strings on frets and nuts and I wouldn’t recommend putting them on anything you value. On the plus side, I was able to repurpose the strings and use them as nut and saddle files for light touch up work, they actually work pretty good at that.

don’t feel bad, I’ve had that happen on both the G and D strings with Cobalts. Fortunately I had some short scale basses in need of new strings.

Well poop. I feel really bad and am so sorry. I know you were really interested in trying those. I'm pretty sure that was the only set I have. I'll look again to make sure. I would never have sent them had I thought that would happen. I only tried them on two maybe three basses at the most that I can think of and thought they would surely have another go or two left. I've had about three sets over the years trying to get them to work for me and the tuner ends are just flimsy. More so than any string I have ever used.
I'd give you $20 for the lavaburst SG...Got a few I’d sell ya.
