That's a string order!

So far I like them. I'm curious how they will sound in a live setting, but so far they seem to have a lot going for them. Some strings you can tell they won't work, but none of that with the SITs. The mids seem to be situated a little lower than Rotos so they seem to have a bigger tone. Clear, but nothing harsh at all.

Great to hear! That sounds about like my impressions. How do you feel about the tension and feel of them?

It was actually supposed to be five packs, but somehow the order got lost and SIT threw in an extra couple of packs.

Maybe I'm slow (no need to affirm), and everyone knows this, but I found that printing shipping labels via PayPal is cheaper than going to the post office. I never paid any attention to shipping via PP because I don't sell that often, but clicked today out of curiosity when shipping some used strings I sold. Ended up saving almost a $1 each and didn't have to go by the post office. Had to used my own paper and ink, but I like just printing and sticking them in the box out front. The thing is you have to know the weight and shoot a little high. I knew from shipping a set recently at the post office, so if you can do that, you'll save some money and time.

Rotos are the only SS I've played much lately and they have a gripyness similar to Rotos, but they don't seem to be as rough. (But I don't mind Rotos.) I'm sure some of that will fade with playing, if not I don't really care as it's not a problem. Basses where I can get nice low action I don't mind 105s, but on others I often prefer 100s. On the '06 I can get it nice and low (tomorrow maybe). I don't find them any more stiff than the typical set of those gauges, and given I can get them nice and low they will be just fine. Not even bad from the higher setup from Roto 100s. So far so good!

(Well I do have a set of DM Blue Steels and you wouldn't know they were SS.)

I've seen some people brag about using stock strings for years. I guess it's a preference thing but I can't imagine the feeling of those strings being great.

I trash factory strings after I decide I like the bass.

Ernie Ball extra slinky roundwounds on fretless, and Pyramid Golds on fretted.

I have a couple other sets of flats but am slowly switching to pyramids

It has been exactly 6 weeks since I had surgery……
And Monday, I picked up a bass just to see... I can play 1, 2, 4, 5, 7 and octave in the major scale. 3 and 6 I just can't generate enough pressure to fret the note yet.
.
That’s ok, 3 and 6 are overrated.

Seriously, Good to hear one of my favorite Canadians is recovering well.

On the topic of strings. What do you guys think about Ernie Ball cobalt? The packaging caught my eye and I might try a 45-100 set.

The flats? I have some extra slinky’s on my Gibson EB and my Danelectro DC.

I’d say they are 80% as good as pyramid golds at half the price. But pyramids are worth the extra cost.

Holy balls those pyramids are expensive. They are actually half the cost of my current bass, to be fair it's just a SX VTG but still.

Well, unless I am playing a boogie woogie line, I rarely use a 6. The 3 is a bit more useful...

I didn't know Geddy was ill...

I tend to buy when I get a coupon from my regular source, they end up about $45 a set. Soooo friggin worth it.

you should price the TI flats… some peeple swear by them but they are a whole lotta meh…

Other's can confirm, but the rounds are horribly rough. The flats sound great--but they make my fingers hurt/ache after some playing. Not from being rough, but it the plutonium waste in them that causes the problem.

Hence the Princess Fingers club. Very top drawer. We don't just let anybody in, in spite of having pretty low standards.

Standards so low that few can slither underneath...
