Thunderbird Club

Anyone have any leads on some Gibson style finger rests? The curved ones like on the old 'Birds and EB-3s?

Bram Tchaikovsky?
No my band from the early 80's No Dice. Worked with a great song writing partner. It's the bass line from our original (title not so much) song Girl of my Dreams.

Ah, that makes more sense. The song sounded somewhat power-pop-esque and I remember my parents had a Bram album with a song by that title on it that struck me as in that genre. Swing and a miss

Aww, man... gas-free for the forseeable future. I friggin' love these things. I love my Epi Classics too... but they may not get much love for a while.

The day i swapped all my gear to D'addario strings, ive never looked back. Ernie ball got too clanky & bright for my taste & they went dead within a week. Dunlop strings: good for a while but just like fender cables, they dont last.

In news: i tackle the tigerbird this weekend & try to complete most of it before pulling a blowtorch to it

Wow, just went through all the new Gibson offerings. Oof. The normal Firebird and LP Tribute are about the only good looking offerings. I'm all for companies trying to expand what they're doing, but what are some of those finishes? Radiation burst and Bloodburst? And those pickguards on those Specials? And the Zero? Jeez. I mean, I know they've been off the rails for the last couple years, but I think a serious and critical assessment of their products is in order. I think it would greatly behoove them to consolidate their product line, go back to the basic setup with Jr, Special, Standard and Custom models for the SGs and Les Pauls in their classic incarnations.
Just on their regular site? If somewhere else, can you link?

Also I agree, they have too many models with only superficial differences. You could probably cut the number of models in half, at least, if you just started offering more finishes and hardware options on each model.

Same with the D'addarios. I just keep coming back to them.

D'addarios are my go-to string as well. I prefer TI Powerbass, but only the basses that get tagged as keepers wear those.

Since i'm not painting the bass & it'd be pretty difficult to tape up & tear out tiger stripes & paint them black, someone (& if i recall correctly it was nocturnal) pitched the idea of just using a blowtorch to create the tiger stripes. Hence why i'm going to burn my bass all around the body the back of the neck & the headstock face & seal it all in a satin finish - making it look road worn & beat in. i just gotta hurry up before winter sets in

Blowtorches still work in winter. ;)

Okay, have fun - just don't get too carried away, I don't want to read a sad story of an over flamed Thunderbird!

Ebony for those? Kind of exotic for that, no? You're not seeing a lot of Ebony fingerboards these days, as it's getting to be a tad rare...
EB0 and EB3s had rosewood tug bars, Thunderbirds had ebony.
