Thunderbird Club

While working I just listened to Foreigner's, first album for the first time in years. Wow! I forgot how great that album was. No songs are filler or throwaways. Amazon Music has the demo of "Feels Like the First Time." It really shows how you can have the bones of a good song and having a good producer and engineer can take a good song and make it great. Of all the artists in the R&R Hall of Fame, I can't believe they aren't. I don't put much stock in such things, but that's always been something of a head scratcher. But so are some that are in there....o_O

The first Foreigner album was packed with good music, at least according to my 13 year old self. I haven't listened to it in ages but I remember that it was not uncommon to hear "deep cuts" from that album played on the radio.

Here’s the Pawn Shop scene where a 1979 Thunderbird is sold by a bass player that bought it in Nashville. I guess that doesn’t mean he’s from Nashville but maybe he is…

@dukeorock, do you know this guy?

He so likes look the man.
But don’t think he’d off a ‘79.

Not OUR, man.

I was shocked when I kept hearing the next great song come on, one right after another. Shoot, I think some of the songs are as good as any of their hits. Well worth giving that record a spin again. I got to see them in 1978. Good show from what I recall.

It is that day.

Evening of the Alien.

Cool. My white '76 identifies as a 1979 natural finish Thunderbird if you can get that for them.;):D

At lunch I quickly recorded the Helix and Phase 90. This was with the white VP with new Boomers. On the recording the Helix sounds a little different but good. In person the 90 sounds better. Better being subjective.

With pick. Helix is first.

Fingers. Phase 90 first. In this one the Helix sounds too fast, which I didn't notice while playing. Not sure if it's just the recording via ipad or what.

In person you notice some extra depth and dementionality from the Phase 90 that the ipad recording doesn't capture. The real test is a live setting. At times some settings sound great at home but disappear live.

Fun fact, at least for me. About 30 years ago I was working the door for a small club in Greenwich Village. For some reason there was a group of rock stars' kids there, including Sean Lennon. Afterwards, Mick Jones' kid invited me to hang with them back at his place. I don't think Sean came back, but damn was Mick's apartment on the Upper West Side gorgeous. He wasn't there. Really nice group of kids, though

Good evening Thunderbird loving sisters and brothers, I hope all have had a good week. Getting a couple of songs ready for a "recital" the shop I take lessons from stages every year. Essentially ad hoc bands of students perform. I have played in a few and met some good folks in the process. I mentioned the neck seemed a little tacky (likely my imagination) and my instructor offered a can of Fast Fret. I am not familiar with this product. Is it useful? Safe for finish and/or strings? Any advice would be appreciated.
Here is my Bird sporting her Buffalo Nickel strap. Love it. I never experienced neck dive, on this or my rather portly 5 string Thunderbird. I guess I am just lucky.
