I heard “I still haven’t found what I’m looking for” played at a wedding.

We play "You Don't Own Me" by Leslie Gore - Kirstin knocks it out of the park. A good song for an engagement or wedding party :) or a first date!

That's a little like playing songs about adultery or addiction at a wedding. Which I have actually done at the request of the couple. Go figure.

I ran sound (last minute; I was invited as a guest but the original sound guy never showed) at a wedding. They walked out to "You've Lost That Loving Feeling"[1]. I got some funny looks, like it was my fault. The marriage lasted maybe 3 years?

[1] Yes, it was the couple's request. The bride's mom and dad were unthrilled.

It's funny, because songs like YLTLF are "slow-dance" classics. Most teens then (like me) who heard that song played at a HS dance/sock-hop knew that when that song and others like it were played, that was when you got to press your body against a girl for a few minutes! (no-one cared about what the lyrics were!)

Note a hollow-body bass - very much what was used then.

A guy I played with called those songs the belly rubbers:D

What kind of amps are they using?

Great rendition!
I was at a wedding reception where the opening song for the first bride/groom dance was - I Put a Spell On You.

Lol - Hey, since when did John Davidson start playing drums?

speaking of which - I’ve also heard this song as a newlywed couple request at a wedding reception…

From around 1970, Both had great voices.

It looks like an EB-2d.

I'm afraid something a bit out of my ability to control would have happened had I the opportunity to "press my body" against a girl for a few minutes.....:woot:

Shouldn't you be a properly trained Mohel for that?
There was a guy whose trade was as a tailor but he studied to become a Mohel. Didn't work out though. Out of force of habit he kept cutting on the bias.

(you have no idea how long I've been waiting for an opportunity to use that story).

That seems like a textile industry joke that's "as old as the hill" (older than Moses?)

Quite often it was the couple's first date/dance song. Meant something to them, screw everyone else.
Also, very glad we got outta doing weddings in the 80s where the first dance might be some rap POS like "Kill the Pig" or something.

In that circumstance, there wouldn't be a "band" - there would be a DJ. Unless it was Eddie Murphys reggae band...
