Nope, the Mk-III has two channels and an Auto-Mix toggle like yours. The front panels are almost identical to the casual observer.
The power section of the Mk-III is very much like the Acoustic 370, similar wattages too. I don't know the differences between the Mk-III and the Mk-IV.
*There is a Mk-III combo, and the Combo 300 is Mk-III era also I think. Those are single-channel amps.

I found a pic of a Mark III, inputs are a bit different, toggle switches where mine has push buttons, LEDs a bit different:

I'd read somewhere that the power sections are the same, but that's Internet info, so grain of salt, and all that ;)

My electronics/amp repair guy was the one who told me. He's been an Acoustic player and a Peavey player from way back, and an electronics engineer for 35-40 years. Been an amp tech for a long time now. My money's on it.

And thanks for posting those pics, I see the differences now.

Went through the band's setlist with the BC Rich and really enjoyed it. Did a nice fret and fretboard cleaning and changed the strings out from Ken Smith Rock Masters to Dunlop MM Super Brights. I think these will work really well for this bass. Letting it sit tuned up overnight.

Side note: extremely disappointed with the Schaller tuners I put on this to replace the old heavier '70s ones. One was replaced because it was grinding/squeaking when turned, and now one's chrome is peeling off. I might just cut my losses and look for another brand that might be a direct drop-in. If it even exists.

Local Craigslist dude had this firebird (treble geetar) unfortunately not a firebird bass...

anyway he had it listed for the better part of a year for $1200-1400....

NOW you can get it at the bargain price of $3000!!!!!

So you aren't buying it then.:roflmao: I'd love to have one, but I don't play enough guitar to even justify the $1200 price. I've got a strat for the times when I feel the need for six of those little sissy strings.

I get most of my strings from these here fellers, They email a 10% off code every so often, but 15% is just once a year....

Time to buy a few more sets of pyramid gold flats.....
Hummm...another sent of pyramids would be nice. I'd love to try them on something else but will never remove them from my '64 Pbass.

I found one of those Peavey Mk-IIIs for $80, had it rehab'd. I love that amp, does right by my 'Bird. That right there is the killer rig! Add another of those 15s and Bob's yer uncle.

...is yours a Mk IV?
A fair number of anti-Peavey snobs out there, but as mentioned before I loved my Mk III and Peavey 215 cab. Wouldn't want to drag it around now, but it sounded great and never a problem. Solid.

Beats me...it's got frets. But you seem to have knack for solving that minor issue.;)

I’m playing it now after a bleach wipedown and I left the grungy roundworms on it, I might leave it as is…. I still got to fix a neck pocket issue but it’s pretty damn nice. Somebunny tightened the bejeezuz out of the neck plate and I think that caused the damage.

I've seen the neckplates dug into the back from some goof using an impact wrench, but never anything on the front as a result. I doubt it's more than cosmetic. Hopefully it's a great player. I think it a decent score.

so since I have possibly 6 months to wait for my burgundy NR, I'mma thinkin this may keep me occupied...

A Billy Sheehan; very nice.

Billy is one of those bass players that I want to hate for all his tapping and other guitar trickery nonsense. But I can't because when I listen to Winery Dogs, he has such great groove.

I haven’t followed Billy’s career much but what I have seen I like, for a FSO his sig bass is pretty sweet.

Damage is purely cosmetic, I’m thinking the neck screws were loose and the neck pried back and made a couple boo boos. She is already glued and clamped.

There are really no other dings or signs of abuse, I am super surprised the headstock looks near pristine. Very light weight and well balanced, plywood body..

Some damn fine yellowing on the finish too.

I’ll have to google and find out approximately when she was made…

the barbed wire is just a vinyl sticker, not sure when it was applied but I think I’m leaving it.

I found a reverb link to an overpriced one…. All my identifying stickers are gone, so maybe there’s the price difference….

called a power bass…
