I'm liking the pink! But I have a hair metal streak to my tastes.

I have a bunch of cleaning up to do on the headstock, but yeah I’m certain pink is the way to go.

then clear over it and I’m 95% done.

I relocated the side dots with luminescent powder, and filled in the old dots and I have to clean that up still.

Looks like FedEx strikes again…
Hundreds of FedEx packages were found tossed into an Alabama ravine, sheriff says - CNN

Have you or Wilkins made any headway in locating your guitar?

No, no word - thanks for asking. All the insurance claims paperwork has been filed and just waiting to eventually get a cash settlement. (not enough to cover the actual worth) I check eBay and Reverb off & on but nothing showing up...yet. I can't imagine what whoever took it is doing with it.

Coffee table.

only about $45 after the coupon, well worth the price.

cheaper than the TI flats, and 10x better.
Sounds like a bargain vs Optima Gold strings at nearly $100 a set. Then there’s the whole world of upright bass strings that rises to an insane level.

Sorry to hear that. Was really hoping someone at FedEx just misplaced it and that you’d have it back by now. I have been keeping an eye out in the SoCal and CentralCal craigslists for it.

Cobalt flats…. got a different complaint than some of y’all do.

So I have a set that I “ruined” on my former Sting sig Pbass because of the string thru body (shaging hate string thru bodies by the way).

my brand new 1988ish Epiphone power bass is a string thru so I dug the cobalt set out or the bin of misfit strings, and realized how crappy the tuner end silks are. Then I checked my other geetar with them and same situation… shredded silks. I don’t think any other silken string I have have done this.

I haven’t followed Billy’s career much but what I have seen I like, for a FSO his sig bass is pretty sweet.

Damage is purely cosmetic, I’m thinking the neck screws were loose and the neck pried back and made a couple boo boos. She is already glued and clamped.

There are really no other dings or signs of abuse, I am super surprised the headstock looks near pristine. Very light weight and well balanced, plywood body..

Some damn fine yellowing on the finish too.

I’ll have to google and find out approximately when she was made…

the barbed wire is just a vinyl sticker, not sure when it was applied but I think I’m leaving it.

I found a reverb link to an overpriced one…. All my identifying stickers are gone, so maybe there’s the price difference….

called a power bass…

Curious how it sounds. Looks to be a good bass. Maybe something to even experiment with.

I like the reverb pic. I never wipe off the 1/8th in. of dust either when trying to sell something. Dust is a patina too.....

Went through the band's setlist with the BC Rich and really enjoyed it. Did a nice fret and fretboard cleaning and changed the strings out from Ken Smith Rock Masters to Dunlop MM Super Brights. I think these will work really well for this bass. Letting it sit tuned up overnight.

Side note: extremely disappointed with the Schaller tuners I put on this to replace the old heavier '70s ones. One was replaced because it was grinding/squeaking when turned, and now one's chrome is peeling off. I might just cut my losses and look for another brand that might be a direct drop-in. If it even exists.

Looks great Ken. I think you’ll like the sound a feeling of the MM Suprtbrights.

Man those pyramid gold nickel flats are spensive! I was looking into getting a set for my bird and dang!
They are actually cheap when you consider they will literally last a decade or more, depending on playing time. Same with TIs. How many rounds (and even some flats) would a person go through in 10 yrs? Likely more than two sets. But it is a little tough to drop that much all at once on strings. But considering you'll be done for a decade it's not bad!

I read a story where about 300-400 FedEx boxes to be delivered were found in a ravine in Alabama the other day. No reason yours would be there, but apparently the saying "it's hard to get good help" is an understatement for FedEx. How they would not notice there is a problem before some random person notices all those boxes is beyond me. Not that FedEx would know where they are, but surely they had to have some suspicion that something was going on. Likely for sometime. That's days if not weeks worth of boxes. You have to wonder how many the guy(s) took home rather than dumping.

Common. And the string itself will easily break up there as well. You can likely only put them on a couple times and after that your are just lucky if you can install them again. But drop in bridges helps instead of all that threading the needle thing.

An interesting thought...

If there were package(s) worth stealing, perhaps dumping entire loads for several days is worthwhile. You will be fired for dumping the boxes, but it will be assumed that the stolen box will be amoungst them. If the boxes are recovered and the stolen box is not amoungst them, it would be unlikely to be the only one unaccounted for and so assumed that several were recovered from the site by salvagers/scavengers.

Of course, it would have to be a very valuable package to make such an enterprise cost effective. Does anyone ship blocks of cocaine by FedEx?

I believe you are being rational. I suspect the guy or guys just didn't want to deliver all those boxes and would take some and throw them in the ravine to get off work sooner. I think you might be giving them too much credit.

Alabama police found hundreds of FedEx packages in a ravine, and it's still unclear how they ended up there

And for the record, I currently do not know anyone who ships cocaine through FedEx.;)

Weird. I've been using EBCFs for about 4 years now. Never had silks unravel. WT7?
