Local Craigslist dude had this firebird (treble geetar) unfortunately not a firebird bass...

anyway he had it listed for the better part of a year for $1200-1400....

NOW you can get it at the bargain price of $3000!!!!!

Johnny Winter's was black, which is, I think, the right color for that guitar. Or a bright red burst.

They don't show up often. That's why I bought mine, even though it's a 2nd. (Wasn't easy to convince they guy to ship from IL though. )
But the color is amazing, I've not yet been able to take a pic that really captures the way it looks in person.

I *think* the only differences are the EQ? Maybe? and IIRC, the Mark III has a single channel, instead of two?

Nope, the Mk-III has two channels and an Auto-Mix toggle like yours. The front panels are almost identical to the casual observer.
The power section of the Mk-III is very much like the Acoustic 370, similar wattages too. I don't know the differences between the Mk-III and the Mk-IV.
*There is a Mk-III combo, and the Combo 300 is Mk-III era also I think. Those are single-channel amps.
