Thunderbird Club

what value is the cap you put in?

I don’t have a collection of bird pickups so I left mine alone, but I rewired mine to V/B/T.

I was going to change my cap, but I wanted to try a .015uF, and a .022uF, and I’m out of .015’s.

My meter can’t measure cap values so I couldn’t see what the stock one is. Anybody know?

I have been playing my Greco lately, and dealing with 34 year old quirks, so when I picked up my 21 NR tonight, I was reassured that buying new basses is so much better…
.047 I think is what I put in, pretty happy with it

I had the 2021 Nonreverse out at rehearsal tonight, it definitely earned a place in the stable. The pickup swap (thanks to our Queen) was wildly successful imho the Epiphone 760 Probuckers really capture that aggressive overdriven sound of a 60s Nonreverse. I yanked the stock cap and put a Sprague orange drop in, really, really happy with the results. The bass is essentially a Thunderbird II now, there is only a empty pickup cover in the bridge position. This offering from Gibson is a step in the right direction, lets hope they keep moving to a 60's spec bass.View attachment 4514469
Glad to hear. I like the knobs in-line better as well. Beautiful bass that's for sure.

huh, I was thinking stock might be a .022, I hadn’t though to try a .047….

I am hating the pickups in my Epiphone pj powerbass and I just put a .047 orange in that, I’ll switch it to the NR and try a .022 in the pj.

I don’t want to replace the pickups in the pj unless I absolutely have to V/B/T on that one.
