My favorite pic of our band - I had a friend who is a pro-photographer shoot a bunch of pics at one of our shows at Winters Tavern and this couple er.., injected themselves into the shot. FTR, Kirstin's hand is on her own knee, not on our female "guests" rump. (source of "madness" noted by Paul)

What's odd? You don't randomly lay on people in public*? I think people appreciate it more when they are trying to have a picture taken.

*This is what people do who should not drink.

Good evening Thunderbird loving sisters and brothers. Happy to report that I took the new NR Bird to my lesson today and surprised the heck out of my instructor. He gave it a once over and convinced me to let him raise both pickups a bit. I have to say it gave it some additional growl. I very happy with it so far, it seems to have been built with great attention to detail. I may try some flats, or pressure wounds or some such on it soon.
I am attempting to learn Fool in the Rain by Led Zeppelin. My band is hoping to add it and I am having some difficulty with JPJ's bass line. I don't seem to have found the the right transcription yet. If anyone has any leads or advice on learning this song, I would greatly appreciate it. It is a great song, and the more I listen to it, the more I hear going on with his playing.

Great to hear that the NR is much appreciated. As for not getting all the parts of a song right, that's what the volume knob is for. Being loud covers a multitude of sins. Just ask many bands from the 70s and 80s.

According to a quick search, they never performed it live 'cos JPJ was on piano-which woulda meant no bass. I s'pose on the recording he multitasked but back then, groups generally didn't play to tracks in concert.

I have learned a number of Led Zeppelin songs over the years. And to accept I’m not going to play it exactly like JPJ. As you say there is a lot going on. Get the broad strokes down first.

When we first recorded it - I found about a dozen versions on YouTube. All interesting but Glen's is hands-down the best - my fave being this live performance -

I disliked that song when it came out (that LA polished, almost pop-county kind of sound), but as an adult really appreciate it all the way round.

Nice instruments being used as well!

Just get what you can and enjoy playing. Unless you're getting paid big bucks. In that case learn it! Otherwise, have fun!

It was so spontaneous/impromptu that (as you can tell from our expressions) we just went with it. They were cool - just a little inebriated.

I always liked it (from when it was new) but gained greater appreciation for it (and Glen Campbell) over the years. It's one of my all-time favorite pop songs.

So with NAMM cancelled, how/when do you think we'll be seeing if Gibson has any new 'Bird content up their sleeve? There have been a few posts about rumored NR or more vintage spec'd birds, but no sources or anything solid.
