Thanks, EZ sniper!
I was a watcher as well..should be a nice project...Cheers!

Those 50th T Birds are nice, there's a lovely one on ebay just now that looks like it's never been played
2013 Gibson Limited Edition 50th Anniversary Gold Thunderbird Bass Guitar MINTY
If customs wouldn't push the price up by 20% on top of the cost of shipping I think I'd have bought it but it just keeps adding up to unrealistic levels in the end

I really like these 50th Ann T'Birds as well. I generally wouldn't go for s gold bass but I find these strangely alluring.

I think we're all interested to see how this progresses, any chance of showing us the occasional picture as it comes along?
I'll be starting a thread in Luthiers' Corner here on TB documenting the 'restoration' or whatever it turns out to be. I'd really appreciate you guys checking in and commenting there. I think the title will be something like, "Bicentennial 'Bird, the Unbutchering" ;)

It's in La Fayette GA, about 400 miles from the swamp. Shipping today by Priority Mail, I'll post arrival pix ASAP.

Excellent! :roflmao: Can you post a link here when you do please, I don't look much outside this thread

Hey @Stevis, I have the Mono M80 case and my Epiphone TV Silver Thunderbird fits just fine. The headstock touches against the inside of the bag, and the lower bout of the body compresses the foam a bit, so it's snug. But the Mono bags are so well padded that I have no worries using it with the T-Bird.
Thanks @FunkyWilly - good to know. I was wondering how the offset wings/contours fit and how much padding it offers them. The hardshell case that came with mine is nice but it is a beast.

I'm considering downsizing my amp. I don't think I need 2 of the NEO 212-II cabs. And my poweramp rig is kinda beastly, weight wise. Hate to wimp out on the weight, but I'm just not into trying to prove anything about myself anymore. I'm 55, I'm good...

So I may be posting my cabs and Yamaha PB-1... looking for a pair of NEO 1x15s or 1x12s, and a GK head. Alternatively, there's a guy locally with the series-II 1x12 combo and matching powered cab...

I steel-wooled off the silk screened Epiphone Blackbird logo from the truss rod cover of my little bird, and NOW it looks hep. Now it's The DARTH-NESS... what a difference a small change can make.

I'd love to have a second Neo 212, but don't know if I'd ever get to use it these days. Pretty sure my 212 and 112 will do anything I need. ...still...

I am loving the pair of Neo 212iis I got recently. Out of interest, I took the Neo 410 I have had for years to practice as well last weekend and a couple of observations. The head is a GK Fusion 550.
The 410 has a tighter bottom end. The pair of 212s are fuller and "nicer" sounding to my ear.
I also wanted to compare the guitar pickup shaped TB+s in my ES 335 Bass and my LP Double cut. I had been blown away for a while at how punchy the LP is.
The pickups are in the same position relative to the nut in both basses. The LP is VVT and the ES335 is VVTT and a three way selector.
Same strings- Roto Round Wound 66s.
The LP is definitely a bit higher output and a bit punchier- the ES 335 sounds great (more like a solid body bass than a hollow body bass) and is a beast in it's own right, but the LP is that little bit better for driving hard rock.

I was at the Warwick Showroom a couple weeks ago and saw their new lightweight stuff. I'm amazed that you can get 600 watts of power out a 5 or 6 pound box now. I'm trying to remember what the cans are loaded with without looking it up. I wanna say 1-12's, but that may not be right since they're matched to the amp. About 1500 bones for the amp and two cabs, and it can all be carried one handed. Almost no need for roadies anymore.

It's like that isn't it? Occasionally when it goes quiet I have to venture out to 'Amps & Cabs', or if I want to watch the handbags flying, 'Effects' can be entertaining - there's some industrial strength umbrage get's taken in there some days.
I know, it's like a different world out of here, like we're the TB version of a 60s commune. I just tend to skip through a couple of pages of new posts every now and then and see what catches my eye, it really does surprise me how some people behave, it's the "it works for me therefore it must work for you and everyone else's method is invalid" attitude.
