Out of curiosity, how would you suggest aging a pickguard? I've never needed to do it, but wondered what you thought. I've heard of some pretty weird methods.

I would start by making it with “parchment” colour pickguard material.

It's a matter of experimentation. That means having access to material (the same as the pg) to experiment with. Plastic is somewhat porous so staining* is possible, shooting a very faint lacquer patina is also a option, leaving it in the sun (heat/UV rays) may end up shrinking the plastic and will take a long time.

*thinner-based stains, coffee, shoe-polish, diluted dyes...possibly something unexpected...

no prob, please don’t feel awkward asking further, I’m a practicing degreed electrical engineer (35 years) and this stuff is (to most) by no means intuitive. i’m happy to try and break it down with analogies to the real world to try and clear up stuff assuming it benefits others of course. PM works great as well, ultimately we can always hook up for a brew….

Sorta', but parchment is a bit tan compared to vintage 'aged'. It would seem someone could produce an "aged" pg plastic sheet but I haven't seen it so far.

What's the length on that case? And where can I get one-if mine'll fit?

I'll measure my 21 NR case when I get home, my impression of it (carrying it up the stairs to the music room) is it is just borderline unweildy. but I don't think it would stop me from gigging it.

The 21 NR case is 52.5” X 17”

It looks to be about as compact as a rectangular case can be.

You can see the difference in the Epiphone Reverse case, it’s shaped a little better, and fits my Greco perfectly. I do NOT know if either was made in Canadia…

I do not know if there is an Epiphone shaped case like this for the NR, but if there is, I would definitely like to buy one.

I will be buying another Epiphone reverse case, it’s very nice.

I’d say the quality of the Epiphone case is easily 90% or more of the Gibson case. I do not know what Gibson cases sell for, but even with recent price hikes, the Epiphone case is $120 shipped, and my sweetwater dude usually does better.

I try not to get hung up on the colour of the tolex OR the faux fur liner but I do always want something different than what I can find…. I’d love either the white or the pink liners.

If I find a source, I’ll share it.
