Another case of "I don't think I am smart enough to play that". Might be marginally easier than fanned fret, but still way above my paygrade.
Hahahaha. Trust me, if you can play a 4 string with a pick, you can manage an 8 string!

By the way, I used "JIO Sonic Stomp" settings with the '06 with Labella tapes. Seemed to tighten up the lows and the sound in general. I'm still experimenting but that may be the trick with the tapes and that bass. I'm glad you posted that pic and got me thinking. Thanks!

Never seen one. That's just cool.
Hammer (I think) used to make one around '80. There used to be one in a large music store in So. Indiana that I used to play on occasion. Thought they might be nice in a three piece band for a little extra sound. Sat in the store for a long time as I recall.
Hamer made 8 & 12 string basses. I have played both........poorly.
Yes, one "m" in the name. I wouldn't even attempt a 12 string unless I was by myself, and it likely wouldn't take long to figure out I was over my head. Who am I kidding, I have a difficult enough time with four strings....

Say no more. Tom Petersson had a similar Greco in the late seventies (he plays it in Cheap Trick's Reading 1979 video alongside a T-Bird, Fender Bass V and Hamer 12-string).

That is my dream bass...one of my dream basses actually. Not that I need a third 12-string 'though.
My Hamer is not that nice looking at the moment:
It has had it's share of different pickups and mods. I already have another T-bird pickup ordered for the bridge slot and the current one is in it's correct position (surprisingly 60's T-Bird...).
And to be honest, only the neck is a genuine Hamer (from a Korean made CH-12) so I haven't hacked a "real" Hamer.
The T-Bird pickup is perfect for an octave string bass. Luckily that search is over.
