Thunderbird Club

My first car was one of these(lotsa room for amp and Thunderbird in trunk):

My first car that I shared with my brother was a Chevy convertible also - a '59 Impala just like this one.

They played on their first seven albums, Brian Wilson realized that the stuff he was beginning to write was beyond their capabilities so he started hiring the Wrecking Crew. They actually didn't really start using them a lot until 'The Beach Boys Today' 1965, which was their 8th album and was a big step, great album.
People think that they couldn't play, that's not true.

Oh yah, they toured live shows - they used the studio pro's for recording.

I think I'm maybe getting 12-14 miles per gallon as it is....

4MPG would be fun....

I have a '94 Buick Roadmaster Estate Wagon at home in Mass at my brother's house, it's my SVT hauler, it's got a Corvette LT-1 in it, posi- air suspension, dual exhaust, it's a hot rod station wagon and actually does go. Exactly like this, it's nice too:

I once fit an upright, two SVT cabs with an SVT head and an electric in the back with room to spare with my wife in the front.

The ROADMONSTER! That is the pinnacle of modern station wagons, IMHO.

That thing is about 80% the weight of my Subway 4x10 cab. I bet it’s freaking loud.

A speaker went out unbeknownst to me in one of my Sunn cabs which screwed up the impedance when I was a kid, and blew out my Marshall Major head, I used a 100 watt Sound City guitar head for about a half a night until it too blew up.

Nice, I really like those things too. Not many of those out here, I do see a few though. Gas is expensive out here and years ago (until it polluted the air) people were taking their gas engines out and putting diesel engines in cars. Me and a friend were sitting in a restaurant looking out the window one day and all of a sudden my eyes focused on the telltale fake scoops on the hood of a '66 Plymouth GTX which originally came with 440's. (There used to be a lot of old Dodges and Plymouths here) We went out to look at it and it was a real one, nice shape too. The owner came along and we asked him about it, he had had it since it was new or almost new and took the 440 and stuck it in his garage and put a slant six in it. We were disappointed but expected it.
Peru outlawed that some years ago and the air here has cleaned up a real lot.

JBL or EV? My 215m has the original EVs but had to re-cone one a long time ago.

I was 16 and had just gotten my license. My father had a '67 Mercury station wagon with a 390 in it. I took it one day and decided for some reason to floor it down the bottom of a short steep hill with some railroad tracks at the top, at the top it it smashed down right on the top of the railroad tracks and broke a motor mount and the tranny got very hard to shift some some reason. I brought it home and parked it figuring, 'Ah he'll never notice it'. A little while later I saw him go get in the car and then heard "BOBBY!!!" I knew nothing . I don't think I ever used that car again.
BOBBY!

Get in here boy!

Now!

I was a good boy. So I enjoy hearing of other people's misadventures.

JBL D-140's, that Marshall was LOUD, loudest 200 watts I've ever heard, it actually caused one of the wires that went to the voice coil to pull right out of the cone due to overexcursion. Sunn 2000S cabs, they used to rattle every place we played. You could feel the air hitting you out to 20-30' away with that head. I recently bought another one :bassist:.

My dad bought one of these in '62 - "wide track" Pontiac Safari. (not this colour) It was very big/long and what I used to haul high-school combo gear to gigs in. It had a collapsable rear seat that faced the rear - always felt strange sitting back there when waiting at a stoplight facing the people in the car behind us. Their cool illustrations alway looked longer and wider than the real thing.
