Thunderbird Club

you recall right...the logo is engraved on the headstock.....because mine has been altered:rolleyes: , I would prefer to see the BaCH logo on the TRC instead of.....
p.s. Could you please post a high res pic of yours (BaCH logo)?

Here’s a close up of the BaCH logo…

Obviously the black scratches in the “B”, “a” and “H” shouldn’t be there.
The actual size is:
2.21” from the furthest tip of the B to the furthest wing feather of the bird
.70” from the top of the word BaCH to the bottom of the words CZECH BRAND
.557” height for just the word BaCH

The truss cover is a bit smaller than the full size logo, but you could probably get the full size logo on the cover if you delete the words “Czech brand” from the artwork.

awesome! thx again George...
@Engle is this something you could use Irv?

I do like the unique pick guard on that bass.
Did you ever confirm the tone cap value you have installed. That will have a significant impact on the sound of the bass. If it helps, I can open up one of my Fender Tele single coil basses to see what cap value it has.
Yes, you are right.
It's marked

Looks to be on the other side:
1KV

I appreciate the offer. Don't take the time to do that unless you are really bored! I'm thinking that's not normal for Strats or Teles.

I was talking with Chuck on the phone Monday night as he was explaining the Q Filter and that bass (I like to name drop really cool people I've talked to and Chuck is definitely way up on the cool list!), and he mentioned an interesting possibility. I was talking about it having Tele knobs (flat tops) when I got it and we got to talking about how the pots, cap and Q-Filter may have been in a Tele at some point. So, it's possible someone wanted their Tele to shoot ice sickles, or maybe the guy just wanted the bass to be very bright.

I plan on rolling the tone back more than normal and see how that goes. The Fender Flats sound great at home, but that bass is one that almost always sounds great at home, but live tends to sound kind of hollow, boomy and bright if the tone isn't rolled back. I plan on doing some EQing next time. I may use it Sunday. Normal guitar player and singer won't be there so I may chicken out and go for a bass that definitely will sound great since I'll be spending more time overseeing practice.

Are you an undercover Canadian??

Well, like Crack The Sky is big in Baltimore Max Webster is big in Imatra, Finland. Or I wish...but at least one of my friends is a fan too.
I first heard their music in 1995 as that said friend taped me three of their songs (Battlescar, In Context Of The Moon and Beyond The Moon). I was hooked. They have it all: great songwriting from pop to off-the-wall prog madness, they look stupid but cool and don't take them too seriously. Mighty fine musicians too. They also split before making any bad albums and before downgrading their music to suit the "American taste" (you know what I mean).

My daughter had blue hair when she was rockin out on this. It’s got a Warmoth Ebony on Maple neck, so it’s a little heavy, but I might try it with RS66S. I think that’s a JazzBass Special pu.
Fer sumpin' that ain't a TBird, that's kinda cool.

Nice straight on shot George!
I’ll load it up and cut it out of gold foil. We’ll see how the feathers come out.
I’ll have to paint in the cracks in the letters first though. Might not get to it until the weekend.

I’ll chec
Glad to help!

The back story on this bass is that it once belonged to our esteemed @godofthunder59 many years ago not sure if he was the first owner. But he was one of a group of individuals (I think there are others in this club as well) that worked closely with BaCH to develop a true NR vintage reproduction. It changed hands a couple of times before I got it in 2020 from of all places Guitar Center where it was being wrongly advertised as an “Epoch Firebird bass”. And now here we are potentially duplicating the logo on this one to be proudly applied to other great examples of this wonderful bass.

I’m sure Scott and others could add a lot more details and background, but I find it fascinating to see how an individual or group of individuals with a dream can contribute to the creation of something that continues to thrill people for generations to come.
