Turbofans don't worry me; the blades are much smaller. Although in a catastrophic failure, the turbine blades may fly around, they are lower mass and have to go through the ducting before hitting the aluminum (or composite for the 787) hull. So I assess a lower probability of penetrating the hull and in the event of penetration, the probable outcome is decompression. The pilot can correct decompression by going down to 12,000 ft. and flying not more than 90 minutes to a landing site.This is always my concern whether it's props or turbine jets or any combination therein. I never choose a seat that's inline with the go-unit.
