Thunderbird Club

Just starting out so I got a TC Electronics amp head with Tone Print. It seems to be the gateway effect to pedals.
Which model head did you buy? The whole beaming Tone Print effects signals from the TC Elec. phone app, into/through the bass pickups and then into the amp settings is so Star Trek. And the built-in tuner is great too.

So, truthfully... how much of a risk do I take changing my Gibson pickups to chrome covers? I've ruined a set of G&L MFD's before, so I'm gunshy. Covers are already in hand, I just haven't worked up the nerve to do it.
Are you planning on doing that to your Anniversary model? I kinda like the black pickups against the gold body (but then again, it is not my bass).

Nope... the 2012 Non Reverse. ;)

The only thing I might do to the 50th Anniversary is move the end strap pin up the body a few inches. I wouldn't do that, but it's already got an aftermarket bridge and knobs. I think it looks fantastic.

What do people do for stands? Normally a bass is on me or in its case but there may be occasions when it would be convenient to stand them up. There are $10 shortie triangular stands available but they probably don't fit a Bird's asymmetric bum that well. The Hercules stands are geeky cool looking but are they any good? How do they go with nitro finish?

I went with one of these Yorkville Sound - Deluxe Hanging Guitar Stand It is shape agnostic and claims to be non-reactive.

I'm running two TC Electronic BG250 combos (a 115 and a 210) A/B'd together as a stage amp, run the pre out from the 210 to the board and use the two Toneprint slots for compression and (very occasionally) chorus, which are about all the effects I'd ever want to use anyway. Simple, compact, very easy to transport, gets the job done.

Which chorus tone did you land on?

Kat, this might not be the greatest angle but it shows my T-bird on a Invalid Link Removed (and I don't have it on the highest setting). I like Hercules stuff. I have a couple of their shorty mic stands for amp cabs. I can't comment on the nitro finish thing, however. I do not leave it on there for long periods. The link above will take you to their site, which should provide info. I have also read where people suggest attaching self-adhesive felt to be extra cautious with guitar stands.

Really is a small world. My husband is a Geordie and was back in the Toon for a visit just a few weeks ago and we both lived in Edinburgh for a long time.
Very cool!

Geordie is one of my favorite accents in the UK, rough and tumble but at the same time laid back and collected, kind of a Chicago mobster accent vs a New York mobster accent, just a little more polished than rough.

I also found out (nearly the hard way) when hitting the pubs with the guys, if the topic of Football (soccer) comes up after a few pints it's best if you shut your mouth and listen, offer to buy another round, or play some darts. Just don't give any hint of your favorite Football team, chances are no matter what you say it's gonna be fightin words. I was with a few local buddies in Newcastle doing some pub hopping along the Quayside and we'd had a few rounds when somebody asked me if I follow Football at all. Stupidly I said, "Yeah, a little bit, Manchester looks like they've got a strong team this year". OMG - it was a crowded standing room only bar and you could see groups of guys starting to square off into head crackin teams. One of the guys I was with yelled out Toons and before you knew it there were Liverpooler, Manchester and Newcastle fans ready to pound each other (my money was on the Geordies - they had home turf advantage and some big mean lookin dudes). Needless to say, my buddies got me out of there quick before I got killed. Yes, they take their football seriously there!

Loved Edinburgh and seriously thought about retiring there, it just felt like home for some reason. I was there probably a half dozen times and it was warm, clear blue sunny sky each time. Everyone told me that's far from the weather norm there so I crossed it off the retirement list. But it's still a beautiful place.

100% This!
The only guitar stand I'll use for my basses is Hercules! The active neck clamp eliminates the possibility of the bass being knocked out of the stand by accident (which I've had happen on other cheaper stands). It's also one of the very few that I'd trust to be nitro safe. I've tried a bunch of brands and its Herc or nothing for me.

I like the Electro Harmonix Small Clone. It does everything I need it to do, is sturdy, and the cost wasn't bad. Also have one of those Danelectro blue plastic-cased chorus pedals that you could buy for $15 at GC. Sometimes I run them both with different settings just to experiment, but I would trust the EHX version over the Danelectro for real stage use.

Clear blue sunny sky? Lucky. I describe it as being like living in a tupperware box in the fridge - with the lid on. Permanently grey. Beautiful all the same.

+1. In the photo I posted earlier my T-Bird is in a Hercules stand. Highly recommended.

Not sure. I've loaded in several different ones to see if I could tell a difference between them. Still playing with it but it's not something I will likely use much anyway.
