I'm excited!!! I'm about to become a member!!
I've been dying for a T-bird for a very long time, and one is coming. I'm building it. Here's the plan: I haven't been able to get a template to print out online, so I'm gonna have to suck it up and buy an Epi, trace it, and (maybe) return it.
Not exactly morally correct, but it's the best I can do. Unless someone can PM me a tracing of theirs.
It's not that I don't want the Epi, but I've got alot of back problems, so my plan is to work with the design a little bit and try to eliminate the neck dive and reduce the weight a little.
Gonna be a very nice myrtlewood top and back on a Port Orford Cedar core, neck through. Planning on using Q-tuners for the pups.
Hopefully the end result allows me to comfortably play my favorite bass instead of admiring from afar.

yeah. they're really nice basses, especially after you do a few mods.
(my mods included: Lull pickups, i made a new pickguard w/gibson p'guard screws, CTS pots, USA Gibson knobs, switchcraft jack, gotoh res-o-lite vintage reverse tuners, vintage gibson pickup and bridge covers, a gibson truss rod cover, and i added a tummy cut on the back. with the res-o-lite tuners the bass balances alot better now.

I was thinking about getting a thunderbird but i'm not sure what to go with. I like the look of the goth since that's in my price range and it's passive. I heard there are some major problems with the head dive. any advice plz?
The neck dive on the Epi is easily fixed by moving the strap button to the back. Some people use one of the top neck plate screws to hold the strap button. You can also use a wider strap with a rough suede back and that helps stop the dive. Somewhere on TB is a thread with the cures for neck dive, maybe it's in the Epi Tbird thread.
If no one can help you with a PDF tracing, I can help you out by tracing the body of my Epi next week after I return from vacation. I'll need to mail it to you tho cause I have no way to scan something that large.

Count me in. Picked this up this afternoon, after playing 4 others before I found the right one.
Sounds great, plays great. Can't wait to start modding. Already added straplocks and Black Beauties. Next up, Hipshot Supertone.
