thunderbird + emg hz?

so im thinking of getting an epiphone thunderbird. i love everything about them body, sound every thing.

however can see myself getting bored with the sound down the road so if i put in some emg hz's will it sound more "modern" like the schector stilleto. i dont have much experience with this so all help and info is appreciated.

I put 'em in my studio 5 along with the EMG pre. Certainly sounds like an EMG equipped bass.

I had a Thunderbird Goth model (It got traded along with some other gear). It had good tone when strung with DR Black Beauties. The biggest problem is neck dive. Find one that has the action set up right (GC sent my son home with a piece of crap that took quite a bit of time and effort to get dialed in) . The Goth has a mahogny body, the standard thunderbird has alder. I believe for that reason, I liked the tone of the Goth over the standard, even though Goth style isn't my taste. The pickups are acceptable when played through a Hartke HA1400 head and a Behringer 2X10 cab. Overall, I'll get another one if the deal is right.

I'd say if you want a cheaper Thunderbird maybe go for the new PRO model. Alot of Epiphones are real duds in my experience.

well the neck dive can be fixed but thanks for the heads up. the reason i picked these pickups is because i want a schecter however i do not have the money. (unless i find a good deal on a used one) and for this reason i dont think ill be able to go with the pro. (again unless i could find a really good deal used)
