I'd like to get alittle more zing out of this amp but then again, my billy sheehan attitude basses really aren't made for zing. I have a modded avatar cab and an EA nl210. I can get clear but, no zing.

I never knew opening a limiter will give you more watts.. I thought that had to do with the power supply including transformer and supply caps.. and output devices.
Just asking.. I also wonder how many output devices it has for the fun of it.. there is a thread going thats called AMP GUTS.. if anyone has an inside photo of the 750 that would be real cool to post with the other amp guts pics that are there..
TF amps are pretty on the inside for sure..

Heh, try searching your user name using the search feature for the entire Bass guitar forum. It'll pull up every time someone quotes you or types in your name. If I missed any sarcasm in your post please pardon me, I'm a little slow.
Is there a major difference in what TF750-A's will DO as opposed to a Genz-Benz GBE 750? Or is it just a matter of sound flavor or something? Both are top quality, yes. Would there be a reason to pick one over another? Please, no fan-bias remarks or "war" for this---I am just figuring on amping up and in a quandry on what, what, what to get. Then again, maybe just go the 1200 watt thing and find a good one of those.

I soooo much want to hear one of these. It just would not be in the cards right now money wise. When spending that kind of money I would definately want to play one before I purchased. Anyone in Georgia around here that has one and would let me hear it/play it?

I don't believe they are mosfet.. I believe they are good old Bi-Polar transistors.. correct me if i am wrong...

I don't own & haven't played either, but the TFB is rated 750W @ 4 ohm and the GBE is rated 675W @ 4 ohm.
From the latest I've heard, if you're interested in 2 ohm loads the TFB is rated at 900W and the GBE is rated at 750W.
The GBE models have a high pass filter built into the preamps that gives lower output per Watt at frequencies below (best I recollect -- someone help me out here) around 50Hz to protect your cabs from being overdriven at low frequencies.
They also have a way to sort of EQ it back in, if you want.
I love the low end tone you've got going there and the playing ain't half bad, either...
I LOVE my TF750A and actually like it quite well through my Epifani setup, though I do keep the tweeter down typically (around 10:00). I usually do bump slightly at 80, 400 and 800hz and generally keep the timbre around 11:00. It is loud enough for anything I can ever imagine doing and just a nice, rich, kicking tone. Tight but with a big low end, too. I upgraded from a TF420A. I rather liked the tone, but the 750 is bigger, warmer and lower sounding with plenty of volume the 420 lacked at times. What a fantastic head, really...
