This is a TFB750 praise thread. You don't like the amp: fine.
Go start another thread and express that opinion.

give praise where praise is due.. the TF DI outs are spectacular.... and the 750 DI is really everything that anyone could wish for and its quiet as a mouse... no hiss or any artifacts that i was able to detect.... I just wish it were at least 1000 watts.... in two spaces... or like Chef said... release a full featured version preamp.

If i said that the Shuttle 6 is louder than the TF750 earlier.. i retract and that was a typo/ error on my part.. i never did a comparison between the TF750 and a shuttle6... only a mesa M6 and the TF750
now the Mesa M6 was just as loud as the TF750 from what i remember.. its bee a few long weeks

I've played a Shuttle a few times and I haven't found it to be as loud as my TF550. Maybe it was tone thing, I found I had to do a lot of EQing with the Shuttle to get the tone I wanted, where as my TF I leave flat for the most part. The other issue I've noticed with a lot of the mini amps including the LM II is that they really run out of headroom quick when your running an 8 ohm load, where as my TF seems to have plenty of gas into 8 ohms. At 4 ohms I'll admit the LM is as loud as the TF 550. Having said that, ALL of the better mini's are great values.

i agree.. but you are fortunate.. I get those reasonable gigs but i also I do some gigs with these Texas hotshot guitar players... that need to play through two Matchless cabs and a 100 watt head or or a Marshall Plexi head so they an get their :rollno: "tone".. :rollno::rollno:. they are not kids.. these are men... they are not going to turn down... ever..
its really silly .. then they want more in their monitors.. so no matter where you go yo uare being pummeled by guitar. from stage and sidefills.... its wears you the F4%^ out from the volume alone..

so the 550 never worked in that situation... But inears did.. i was using Sensophonics and they cut back about 26 dB of ambient sound... and i could hear my bass real nice with those... I could show up with a Pignose amp if that were the case...

A 750 might work since it can do 2 ohms i think, and i could use my larger cabs in that particular situation...

Yeah, I used to work with a blues guitarist like that. Used a Super on 10. Great player but geez! I don't get why guitarists are like that. I bet if they get fired from a few gigs they'd change their minds. They'd have to be SRV meets Django for me to be able to take that environment. God be with you :rollno:

hey guys. I have been playing my new tfb750a on about my last 10 gigs or so. What a great amp. Has the low mid punch of my ashdowns but way more focused than either of them. This amp is loud too! I have used it with a pair of ea nl-210 cabs, pair of eden 2x10's, custom LDS 2x10 and a customized avatar 4x10 neo.

Last night I finally turned it up alittle past noon and got to hear what the tube switch actually does. I compresses just like my vintage svt. It didn't really distort but compresses and makes the tone alittle more middy or pointed,.......sort of. I love it but won't actually get to use that feature at most gigs. I took an avatar 4x10 neo, replaced one of the 10 inch drivers with a sealed back eminence 8" which is bandpassed properly. The avatar handles the power amazingly! The cones just barely start to move. With the 8" speaker used ad gig volumes, you don't need the tweeter at all. The tweet is nice for at home levels but thats not what this rig is for. I will have this 8" in whatever rig I use from now on.

Anyway, when I had the amp on about 5 or six and the tube switch was doing it's thing, I switched back to solid state mode. Clean and un-compressed. Loud. Most amps break up at that point. I would like to find out when the amp starts to puke but, my neighbor is a cranky old ba@#%rd! I don't see how anyone would need more power. Anymore and you really should be using the pa. The di is the best that I have used on any amp. Solid and clean.

It would be nice to get alittle more super high out of it for at home weedly playing but it's not needed. My Phil jones p-1 will be here today and I think that will be good for the super clear high end stuff. Anyway, Just a great amp.

the DI is spectacular..

I dont think you can get that amp to puke... it just sort of stops and doesnt get louder... but never pukes..
The natural progression would be a 1000 watter.. the fictitious "TF Millennium" with a brushed aluminum champagne colored faceplate..like the way some high end audiophile stuff looks like. dont steal my ideas:):eek:

I've been using my TFB 750-A with a Mesa Boogie Powerhouse 1000. This is a great combination. Tone for days, and talk about loud! Wow! I can't imagine ever needing to get louder. The natural compression and huge power supply of the TF gives the PH 1000 a really wicked punch. Perfect for funky JBass bridge pickup stuff!

The "player control network" crossover in the Powerhouse is a particularly good fit with the Thunderfunk. The 3K Bright position really brightens up the high end. I've noticed the same result with my Powerhouse 115. With a very slight boost of my bass's active treble control, I can get a nice zingy slap/pop sound!

Oddly, I don't like the sound of the Thunderfunk quite as well with my Epifani cabinets. Turning up the tweeters seems to induce an odd upper midrange "anomaly." This might be "novice-error." I'll keep working on this.

Overall, I'm really happy with this amp!
