Thunderfunk Amp club!

That is kind of what surprised me when I got it (Vt Bass v2). I seemed to lose that full bottom end I am so used to with the Thunderfunk. I chained it with a few other effects (bass chorus and bass big muff) and for some reason it seemed to bring out the bottom end.

I would love to get something that allows you to mix your clean signal (true bypass or something) with the gritty subtle overdrive.

may add anothe gig report?

venue: open space. Fighting with my only rig against a 1200 watts medium quality Pa carriyng voice anf guitar.
approx. 30-40 folks just near the stage, a hollow one, pretty little venue...

Genre: folk and popular music, but with great changes between a song to another

My gear: TF 550 B trough a Aguilar DB 112. Volume on 5, little bost at 220 Hz, all remaining controls nooned, filters off.

the tone wasn't my preferred one and finally I found the TF and Aguilar combination is not to my liking, but this time, I was able to hear myself very clearly in the mix, even if the cab was almost pointing at my ankles...the overall bass tone was just right.
Very different experience comparaed to the previous gig were I played another head with the DB 112.
Now I was able to hear all things perfectly. I think this improvement has to be accorded to the TF presence only...

I love that combination. I love the 550B I think better than the 750A on that rig. I have played two DB12's with the TF 550B and 750A. Somehow after I updated the 550b with the 750A's soundboard I love the little extra power and the limiter really tightens the low end. The 750A sounds good with other combinations but somehow I still love the 550 B's tight low end. The 750A has a beautiful rounder and deeper lows but again the 550B is different in a good way.

How does the 550 thats updated or the 750 compare to your GK MBFusion 800?
Do they have equal bottom? Do they have similar attack?

Do you have a 550 that was updated with a 650 amp module too. I think they had additional small caps on each output device? Those are rare

Yes I did. The 550B I wouldn't say had more bottom than the fusion 800, but a nice bottom all the same. It does have similar power to the 750A. But not when it was the standard 550B. I love the compressed bottom yet it didn't leave it out either. It really made the bottom heard in the mix. The fusion is louder but the 550B is loud enough for many of my gigs. I'm not sure how he uses the limiter in the 550 than the 750A to make it sound that way. You can get a similar bottom on the 750A but just not in the character of the 550B. Not saying one is better than the other.

So, I am having some real problems with my TF-750A. It buzzes no matter if anything is connected. It even buzzes when the mute toggle is pushed in. The input jacks pop every time I plug something in (again while the amp is muted). The SS/Tube button also pops every time you press it. I have tried multiple power and 1/4" cords, outlets, rooms in my house, and 3 basses. Nothing changes. It hadn't fallen, gotten wet, or been rough handled in any way. I assume I am going to have to send this back to Dave for a tune up. Do I just email him with the above info?

Yes. Dave will have an idea what is wrong with it by your description of the problem.

Ment 800v2

bump.

Anyone got a chance to try a 800 v2 in the wild?

don't get me wrong, the price tag of the 800 v2 is way above my desires...
I am also suggesting mr. Funk to try to build a 1000 watts amp/4 ohm. This would require a complete new project for the poweramp and expecially the transformer, and probably it would imply a significant weight increase, but if that amp was on the 25-30 lbs target, it would appeal me badly.
Don't get me wrong, I love that micros thing, I use one myself, but I love also my Thunderfunk and I want something that can drive my new barefaced 800 watts/8 ohm cab to its full potential.
There are such plans in the Thunderfunk future?

Anyone try the new 800v1 yet?
I have a Thunderfunk TFB750-A which has the 800 spec.

It sounds great. Full, fat, clear, warm, defined and punchy, a real quality tone. I also play D class amps (MB, TC, Aguilar). They come and go but the TF stays. Thunderfunks are more expensive than many other amps but for the quality of their sound I think they are worth every penny.

Acoustically challenged rooms are no problem with the TF and Bergantino cabs and I often run my TF to 2.6 ohms with 3 112 cabs. I never get drowned out. It fills every room.
