How are the short scale strings?
I have "short-scale" TIs on two of my basses. One is a 30-inch fretless and the other is a 32-inch fretless. They sound great. The E-string on the short-scale is a bit thicker than on the long scales, but I think the others are same gauge. I was worried about them being too floppy, but it has not been a problem and they feel great. I also have TIs on both of my long-scale 5-string fretli, too. I'm a big fan.

Is anyone else wanting to scoop out a little bit of the mids of their TI's? And if so what frequency(frequencies?) Are you scooping?

I love my TI's but whenever I do any fill utilizing the d, g strings it just has a bit to much honk.

I like the midrange of the TI's, but I cut a little around 800hz when I want a smoother tone with them. Seems to work with my setup.

I was thinking about trying somewhere between 800 and 1k I was also going to check between 400 and 600.

I like the midrange on the lower strings(6 steing bass) it's the D and G string. Oddly enough the high C doesn't sound to honky.

I find that typical for just about all my (too many) basses, and new or old strings of any brand. Even a greasing seems to leave twang in those high strings.
