TI Flats on Amazon for $39.00 + shipping

I just received 3 sets of TI JF344 as promised (no accordion parts ;)).

I had a moment of panic because the shipping box was flattened and mangled beyond recognition, I wasn't expecting the strings to arrive so soon, and I am also expecting a Broughton effects pedal. For a minute I was like "nooooooooo! my pedal!!!!"

An interesting detail is that I placed the order on the 2nd, received it today, and the return address on (what was left of) the shipping carton was from an Amazon facility in New Jersey. Make of that what you will... Maybe enough of us are taking advantage of the offer, that they shipped a bunch to the USA for Amazon to repackage and ship out domestically?

I received the strings today. Package was in fine shape. Now I have to decide which bass to put them on. My main player these days is a Carvin BB 70, which has GHS Pressurewounds on it. First time I've tried those, and I like them a lot. Another candidate would be my MIM Jazz but that's at my sister's house in Florida.

I got the first set I ordered a couple of weeks ago and put them on one of my most played basses. Wow now I see what all the fuss is about. The low tension feel of these strings is just great. I know it's a subjective thing, but I really really like these.

Looks like my local post office has flummoxed itself trying to deliver the second set /sigh.
So I'm set, TIs for low tension flats, and Dunlop flatwounds for everything else. If anybody hasn't tried the Dunlops, I highly recommend them. Great sound.

Shame you can't save on shipping by ordering more than one set at a time of these accordian accessories. Ah well..........

It's funny - I love the JF344 jazz flats, but their EB344 'Magnacore Powerbass' roundwound strings just don't seem to be anything special to me. Not that they're bad, just not worth paying a premium price for.

I ordered a set today at the slightly higher price of $41.70. All in with shipping and WA state taxes the cost is $51.68. If they do ship from outside the US, I would be interested to know how the retailer remits the state taxes back to WA.

These will replace a brand new set of D'Addario Half Rounds that didn't fit on my Gibson Midtown Signature bass. The distance from the bridge claw to the saddle is pretty close on those floating three point Gibson bridges, and the D'Addario's had extra windings at the ball end that were sitting on the saddle--I figured that can't be good. I'll stop by my local music shop and see what they will do for an opened package of strings, but it reinforces how handy it is do order product from Amazon.

That's a great question. Amazon has begun collecting sales tax on behalf of all 3rd-party sellers, and presumably passes the collected amount along to the seller for payment to the appropriate states. (My wife sells things on Etsy and that's how it works for her with NYS sales taxes. Etsy assesses an 8% or whatever tax on sales to NY buyers and sends it to my wife along with the purchase price. Every quarter she files a sales tax form with the state and sends in the money.)

Why do I think a lot of vendors have neither the resources nor the desire to figure where to send all this bonus money?
