TI flats question

So I have a P bass that I would like to string with TI JF344's.
Ok, the nut on the P is cut for string gauge 45-65-85-105.
I'm worried about the major difference in guage.
Is there a special way to install these strings?
Is it OK for the TI's to flap around in the larger nut slots?
Do I need to get a new nut cut?
Any advice greatly appreciated

Hi!
TIs are 43-100. You won't need to cut a new nut; it isn't a great enough difference to require it.

Some people are proponents of 'crimping' strings before installing them; with Pyramid strings it's mandatory.

I don't think crimping's necessary with TIs but there's no harm in doing it. You put a sharp bend in the string and then cut it to length approximately an inch past the crimp.

TIs are 'looser' than other flats. But in IMO they're not over-cooked spaghetti noodles as some would have you believe.

You'll be fine.

Make sure the leader is long enough to go about three wraps on the G & D strings for stability, and is long enough to come down the post to just barely touching the bushing on the A string, and the E string is positioned so it has about the same down angle from the nut to the tuner post as the A string so it doesn't bind.

I always thought that it will have a negative impact (with regards to wear and sound) in case the grooves are too large for thinner strings.

In my case the A string does not perfectly fit into the nut groove. There is a tiny little space left, enough to move the string a bit (really not much, can hardly be seen). Problem?
