I have used the JR364 (extra long 36") on a regular Jazz bass with no problem at all. Assuming your tuning posts are standard Fender-type ones, not skinny like Hofner ones, there is no problem at all winding the extra length around them. The feel/stiffness is like that of a regular light gauge roundwound, not super-floppy, but still with the suppleness and gorgeously mellow musical tones of the TIJRs.
