Got my sets today, how they sound out of the box? I hate the zing/metallic sound that some strings give when new, I play at church this Thursday 24th and I am wondering if I should wait couple of weeks to put the strings so they can have some time to break in before my next schedule service that is on Jan 17th.

Time to switch to Dunlop Super Brights!!!

I went ahead and put the strings in my P, to be honest, I was expecting alot of zing and fret noise. Wow, very quiet strings with strong bottom and mids, crispy highs that are under control, like them alot, cant wait for Christmas services to check how they work live.

Yeah I think because of the name, people expect zing and clank. Think about the name like SuperBright headlights (a nod to their DR back story, I'm sure!). They just make everything shine.
I once joked with a friend that if Dunlop put out the Super Bright Nickels also as Super Warm Nickels, people would buy into it and there would be arguments on TB about them, even though they're the same strings.
I'm also interested in this comparison. If anyone has any experience with these 2 sets, please chime in
So, I've read most of these 21 pages of comments. I'm ready to pull the trigger at BSO but I haven't found the definitive answer to this: The Super Brite nickels are more growly and bright than the SS ones? I use DR hi beams so I'd like a string similar in brightness to them.
6 months in, still loving my first set of Super Bright Nickel 40-100. They just always feel right. Can't think of how else to describe them.
I've got a 40-100 SS set to try and another 40-100 Nickel set for after that. And now there are talks of Super Bright Flatwounds?? I will most certainly be trying those!!

Hmmm...Super Bright flats? I knew they were making flats, but if they make them based on the Super Brights, I will have to try a set my own self.
I have been using Super Brights for the last 6 months, and they have become my favorite string. Great product for my sound.
IMO, no the nickels aren't as "growly" or as bright. The nickels seem to have a touch of mid scoop. I ran through 4-5 sets, and the stainless are def the right fit for me..
Some things are 20% off, some are 10% off and and some are 0% off. It's really hit and miss what it what from what I can tell. The Dunlop's are 10% off in my cart too.
I may have been wrong, I just saw them discounted and assumed they were 20% off. I know Aguilar and GK is 20% though.
There are three discounts. 10%, 15%, and 20%. Most all brands get the discount. Only a handful shouldn't. I saw a couple of items mentioned in other threads need to check.
After a few hours, the overtones and clank has settled a bit. I'm not quite getting a "piano-like" tone out of my Precision, but it's close. I'm curious as to how long the strings stay in this "sweet spot" where they've began to lose the new string sound. The feel is loose, and I imagine that they will continue to loosen up over time. I may have to consider tying the SS version in light, then either version in medium and see what feels best. I'm planning on upgrading some gear now that I have my Christmas bonus, and these are definitely going to be the first set put on the new bass when she arrives.

I played DR's, mostly the black coated ones. To my ears, the SB stainless sounded better new, and for even longer...You couldn't have told me how awesome these were BEFORE I realized how much I'm diggin' the DR Hibeams and Sunbeams????

Sunbeams were my go to round for quite a long time. The Super Brights knocked them down a rung. The SB Nickels are similar to Sunbeams, but better!
