tl 082 type preamp

Quote:

1091 - Guitar Preamp with Tone Controls (TL082)Electric guitar preamplifier with very good specifications that should satisfy even the most demanding user. Brings the electric guitar pickup output up to line level so that it can be connected to any power amplifier, mixer, tape deck, etc.

Separate BASS and TREBLE controls with a 12dB/octave adjustment range. Uses the popular TL082 IC that features high sensitivity and low distortion (see IC datasheet below for for details). The board is small enough to be placed inside many electric guitars.

Not recommended for bass guitars.

OK... guessing this comes from another page/site. I couldn't get much from the site linked to by the OP... it was all Greek to me. :D

I suspect they have designed that preamp to rolloff low frequencies, or the tone controls are "voiced" for regular guitar. Since they don't give component values, we can't figure out much more.

Certainly there's nothing wrong with using the TL082 IC itself for a bass preamp and most IC gain circuits are pretty much the same, so that's why I suspect the EQ is just not voiced for bass.

Sorry but I don't know of an off-the-shelf bass preamp kit. However, there are some nice schematics floating around for a complete DIY job, meaning you buy the parts yourself and assemble it on perfboard. A simple FET preamp like this one Discrete FET Guitar Preamp wouldn't even need perfboard, just hardwire the stuff between the pickup(s) and volume/tone control. (I don't share the FET circuit's author's views that opamps suck for preamps, incidentally)

Ah, I didn't catch that the OP needed a piezo preamp. Good point.

The FET preamp circuit that I linked to has pretty high input impedance and should be usable for piezo, note I have not made this and tried it myself so I can't vouch for it.
