TL-606 cabs what else besides EV speakers will work?

When I was a kid, I was a die hard fan of EV after trying a JBL and a Black Widow...not understanding anything about cabs, they were all tested in the same one. It formed a bias that I hung on to for many years

The beauty of the 3015 and Faital 15PR400 is they don't 'need' a large box to sound good. In some ways, the low mid bump and somewhat spikey thing that happens around 1.5k with a 3015 in a small enclosure could be seen as a good thing for many folks. Cuts through a mix reasonably well and those bumps give the illusion of a bigger cab sound in a 30lb box

Funny you should mention this.
I just spent a few days A/B'ing between the Berg, B115M, the NeoX, and TL606 (behind Berg cabinet)
With a 60' P bass and a Fender Pro 800 amp, SVT, and 800 Fusion, the B115 sounds awesome but it can't go loud.
The Neo X is really close, goes loud, and is lightweight.
I nearly sold the EV a few times but nobody would give me $100 for it!!

That’s a heck of a setup! B115M is not a cab I’m familiar with. Does it have a tweeter or horn with it or just the 8”? And it was the tone king?

For lowish volume I like this cab the most (this week).
Deep solid bottom with an EVM 15 and the 8" adds just the right amount of high end.
Think of a TL606 only deeper, cleaner, bigger, and brighter

I guess that would be the S15-3 PA cab, of which I have two.

TL606 work well with a variety of drivers, despite what acoustic engineers tell you. Back in the day, the most popular was a JBL K 140. I've used just about everything in one thru the ages. Sometimes wrong sounds good.

There's a difference between working well and working as well as possible. The EVM 15B gets best results in a 3 cu ft cab tuned to 43 hz, the K140 in a 2 cu ft cab tuned to 30 hz, the 3015 a 2.8 cu ft cab tuned to 45 hz. If the 606 was the be all and end all of cab design that's all anyone would make. Being a first generation T/S cab it wasn't even ideal for the EVM, all the ports open tuned it too high, blocking one tuned it too low, although at 40 hz still too high for the K140. Those know nothing acoustic engineers have managed to learn a thing or two in the last forty years, including how to build cabs that weigh half what the 606 does.

I would find a used PV 215 with BW 15s and harvest the drivers . They go for cheap on CL.
