TL-606 cabs what else besides EV speakers will work?

I've had good experience with Eminence Delta Pro 15A speakers in TL-606 cabs. Very similar to the EV.

I have a TL606 with an Eminence 3015 and one with an Eminence Legend CB 158. Both work well IMO. The 3015 will take more power.

I think what some guys have been saying is actually that the KL 3015 is perfectly happy in a bit smaller cab, not that it needs one. A lot of people like the low-mid bump that a smaller cab can bring. I am not one of those people though, although it makes quite a bit of sense for use with lower powered amps. Personally, I prefer to get there with EQ, if desired, not by baking that into the native cab curve.

I gig Faital 15PR400 loaded EV TL606 for the past several years. A lot of other cabs pass through but these are still around and get used. Quite frankly, a TL606 is just a bottom slotted port cab. Everyone makes one or has in the past. Round ports are classic and now, the corner ports are used. Fundamentally, it still comes down to the driver, internal box volume and port sizing selection to best support the intended application and preference. I still like them and they still sound great in the mix.

Fort those living in Europe / UK I would recommend the Oberton 15MB500 Invalid Link Removed for the TL606. I use this driver in my "Cyclops" cab, it's one of those few driver that has a large xmax, extended midrange up to 4khz, good efficiency and can handle a lot of power, ideal for bassguitar. And, it's IMHO a driver with an exceptional price / performance ratio.

My rig for 30 years was 2 TL-606s and a TL-505 and was the best rig I ever used but I got rid of it because I'm old and feeble and can't move the cabs anymore.
Nothing but an EVM 15L will sound right in those 606s. The 15B is too muddy in that box. The cab won't self destruct if you use something else but it won't perform like a TL-606 should.

Oberton also makes a 15" driver (15l400) that looks like a EVM 15L clone, they manufacture this one for years.
It's TSP's come close to the EVM 15L and it's overall design goal goes in the same direction.

The 15L is a bass speaker. It's basically a 15B with a different cone that has "ribs" on it to extend the HF response another octave.

As far as the distortion, I always liked how EVMs would grunt nicely when hit hard. I agree it's a feature not a bug. Still one of my favorite sounds for BG. I used both the 12L (in the 12" version of the TL606) and 15B for many years, still own a 15B in an EAW VB125 box.

No there isn't such a driver.
One driver I like that has a good compromise between xmax, power handling and mid extension is the Oberton 15MB500 that I mentioned before. Although it extends up to 4khz it doesn't have the rising response the EV 15L has, and, a higher xmax will result in a totally different sound when pushed. I can push the 15MB500 with a 800watt power amp and the volume will just increase without changing the way it sounds, whereas the EV 15L will enter harmonic distortion territory when pushed, giving it a unique sound. It's comparing apples to oranges

Been said already but 3015s are great in these cabs. I have a pair and they just sound wonderful and shave a few pounds too. I’ve slammed them on some big stages with no problems.

The 15L had lower Qes, which extended the highs but also reduced the lows. What will work in a TL606 is any driver with specs similar to the EVMs, what will sound like a 15L or 15B is a driver with a similar response chart.

There probably is, higher xmax and Pe are the two main differences between forty year old drivers and current drivers.

Since I don't use or like distortion for most of what I do, I pretty much always needed two 606s for actual gigs. Don't think I ever ended up with a fully matched driver set either.

I love the sound of these drivers before distortion though.
My ancient EV B15M (with 8" mid range) has probably the nicest tone of all my cabinets which include Bergantino HT322, TL606, and GB 2x12 NeoX.
I had the EV 2115BM and while it was somewhat louder, the difference was not great enough to justify the weight.

I loved those EVs with the vented midrange back in the day. But yeah, heavy.
